  • Re: Sony Bravia KDL-65W850C Red blink 6 times

The tester arrived today, the verdict is clear.
On Out1 it reads 170v and lights up.
On Out3 it reads 300+v and does not light up.

Clearly a burnt LED on Out2.

Now, I've seen a few videos, looks like a lot of disassembly to get to them, I'll order the LED strips, hopefully this goes well, little nervous!

    Any tips?

Thanks to both, I ordered a tool to test the led strips, before i dive further into the panel i'll see if that confirms it.
It looks like it's a major pain to get to the led strips, but not impossible!

You mean the actual LEDs? I never thought of that, i guess they could go bad.

The service manual doesn't see to cover those too much.

I'll look into it, i guess if you mention replacing them, I can find those easily?

    Hello all!

    New member here!

I'm trying to see if this can be an easy fix, so far i found the service manual and followed the troubleshooting path a bit.

When I power on the TV, i see "SONY" quickly flash but then it goes back to black. The power light flashes white a few seconds and then red for 6 blinks.

The troubleshooting path had me check the BL_ERR signal and I have 3V so well above the written 1.9v threshold.

Then I verified the Out1 and Out2 voltage and that's where i'm stuck.
    When I power on the...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi All!

    Fresh new member here.
Did electronics back in college and it's been years since i've had to go down to the component level but i have a challenge now that i would love some help on.
I'll post a thread once i'm allowed, but i have a Sony TV that died and i think it could be repaired easily.
I don't want to break any rules by spewing it out here so i'll wait until i'm able to post in the proper area but if anyone is familiar with Sony Bravia TVs and their power supplies, maybe send me a...
