Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
My main cap was same as yours (Samwha) and definitely wasn't totally flat so I suspected that. Replaced it, all good so far.
I know its a bit of a hit & miss approach, but my soldering skills leave something to be desired (I blame the tools!) so didn't relish the thought of recapping entire board.
Guess I got lucky (so far) plus main cap was under £4 so not too much of a gamble...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Ok, quick update for any poor souls with similar problems.
Pulled monitor apart again & main cap CP803 had a bit of a bulge, don't have suitable testing equipment & didn't fancy prodding around the PCB with the power on, so for £4 got a replacement, just put it in & monitor's now been up & running fine for last few hours.
Hurrah
Thanks again for everyone's advice

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Hmmm, not really...!
Thanks for swift reply, I'm going to pull monitor apart again to see if there's any obvious bulging caps etc that I missed before it my flush of enthusiastic resistor replacement!
Was hoping I could do an easy test with a multimeter to diagnose any bad caps but I guess not....

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
I posted last year having successfully repaired one of our office 245Bs by changing the 805 resistor.
Last week another of our 245B's started flickering when first turned on, finally settling down after about an hour once warm.
I've just taken it apart, checked the 3 'troublesome' resistors, 1 was showing about 95ohms so flush with my success from last time & full of false confidence swapped that one out & reassembled.
No joy, same problem.
I've read through this entire (& similar) threads...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Another massive thank you to everyone on this thread.
One of our office 245B's died the other week & I Googled up this forum.
Despite me being much better at taking things apart than re-assembling them I thought as I'd got nothing to lose, so after following the steps others had taken found resistor RB805 was kaput.
Just replaced it, now all good!
29p replacement saved me spending £hundreds on a new one!
Thanks again
