ok can someone just tell me one thing, are the vrms on a 3090 in pairs? so two per phase? Wild guess but if they are then its likely the one next to the one that blew is bad also? anyone chime in please?

starting to wonder if either the gpu is dead (even though it displays) or if when the vrm blew it caused a short somewhere under the gpu. Think a reflow might help? or full reball? or am I missing something and its not the gpu at all?Leave a comment:

Hi
Got a gigabyte eagle 3090 that had a blown 12v vrm and two fuses so fixed them both, card boots.
It passes mats mem test no problem but if I run any mods test I get black screen and no response. Same if I put it on windows, install driver, black screen, nothing.
Any ideas? I checked all resistances and voltages and all seems good, its very confusing.

I had a strix 3080 come in and all voltage present, core gets warm, i also had a screen until I noticed a little condensation damage near the final display port and up9512q mem controller. I cleaned the area and started retinning some corroded components and noticed i actually washed off three resistors pictured

does anyone have the values for these or a link to get a boardview please so i can replace them from a dead card?

Thanks very much I will have a look and get back to you. For diode mode I was in diode mode with negative on data and all of them read 1.8, but will check again. I will also try to flex the pcb slightly as you say and see if I get a post, if so I will reflow it and retest, I have a pretty good preheat table and a decent hot air so dont worry no 650c hot air guns or ovens going near it!...Leave a comment:

yeah so ive tested all the transmitter lane pairs and they read 1.8074v , perfectly normal, the last PRSNT and pin 82 both lead to unpopulated pads, no missing components noticable on microscope and checked against board pictures on techpowerup (here [url]https://www.techpowerup.com/review/palit-geforce-rtx-3050-stormx-oc/3.html[/url] ). So I think now its a short receiver lane, I get no reading on any of these because they are direct to gpu core as far as i understand?

Massively appreciate the reply thank you. Ive replicated this issue on three test systems so its the card. The mobos I used were P87, x570 and h110 so a healthy mix of various gens, all produce the same behaviour.
Am I correct in thinking the next best points of interest for me should be in diode mode and check every transmitter and receiver lane after pin 48 and maybe PRSNT and RSVD?...Leave a comment:

Update: Ive taped up all the pins that go beyond 8x and the card boots perfectly on the top slot so there must be a short somewhere along the line, so far I cant figure it out but Im glad at least it runs 8x. More than willing to pull it out for exploration if anybody wants to chime in to figure this issue out.Leave a comment:

Hi I would like some help please because for the life of me I cannot pinpoint this issue. The card gets all its voltages, resistances are fine but in the pcie top slot the card wont detect but it works perfectly in the second slot so Im guessing it works fine in pcie 8x but wont work at all in pcie 16x. Has anyone ever had this issue?
On stand by with my multi ready to answer anything. I want this gpu for my son for xmas so Im really hoping It can work fully in the top slot. Thanks -

Asus Strix 5700xt
Hi I have a 5700xt and would like some help. Card was never worked on and lovely condition, zero visible damage anywhere.
All resistances seem fine, Checked pin 3 and 4 after the notch with diode mode all fine, all mosfets are receiving 12v on pin 1 of the mosfets but none of them output to power the core, Im getting 5v, 0.7v, 1.8v, 1.35v everywhere it should so Im thinking this is a enable issue before the mosfets?
Has anyone got any experience with these cards? Im sure it must be a transistor or something not allowing a p-good or something like this but as I go... -

So Ive aquired a rx6800xt which i believe was dropped at some point by previous owner, it artifacts (pixels shifting) in desktop and in 3dmark i get disco lights (multicoloured flashes. Ive ruled out the ram because I can mine eth (very ram dependent) or heavier algo's full power without issue or stale shares/errors. Ive tested resitances and they seem to be good on all points (12v, mem, pcie lanes etc). Under microscope theres no missing components. A repair guy said to me its likely dying core which got me thinking.
