  • I am attaching the patched file that worked on my P50. Maybe helps for anyone. The patched file is from another P50, that I got way back. I wanted to give it a try on this one, and it worked....

  • I was able to fix it, using another P50's patched file. It took a little bit time, and it restarted a few times, but eventually it did boot and I could remove the password.

    Thank you anyway....

  • Thank you, but it is the same patched file that I uploaded in my post. It's not booting with that patch....

  • Sorry, I forgot to give more details about the P50 in my first post.

    ThinkPad P50
    Machine Type Model: 20EQ-S20D00
    Serial number: PC-0SWU6L
    18/02

In my previous post, I attached the original dump and the patched file. I patched it using the autopatcher, but the laptop unfortunately doesn't boot with it.

    Thanks for any help....

  • I have a P50 and I am also having the same problem. After flashing the patched Bios, the laptop doesn't boot. The power button light turns on, the fan spins, the screen stays black, and after a minute or about 75 seconds, it just turns off.

If I write the original Bios back, it boots normally.
Did you find any solution for this?

I am attaching the original dump and the patched one. Can anyone please help me?...

  • Re: X1 Yoga 2nd Generation with a BIOS password

    Hello all,

I ordered a new MX25L12873F chip, and flashed the BIOS with the dump Markus1741 provided. Unfortunately still the same problem. The light on the power button blinks three times after I plug the power supply in, and that's all. Nothing happens if I press the power button.

As a last resort, I'm thinking to buy the following mainboard:

Is there any hope to fix that, can I try anything else? Is it possible to use my original dump (which...

  • Re: Lenovo X1 2nd Gen Yoga Tablet won´t boot anymore - flashing power button

I am having exactly the same problem.
    Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen - 20JE

I read the BIOS using a Raspberry PI and flashrom. Apparently my first backup was corrupt, since the flashrom version I had, didn't support the chip model MX25L12873F.

Now I cannot boot the notebook, neither with the patched BIOS nor with the original backup. According to the feedback I get in this forum, my original dump has completely missing ME region.

    When I connect...

    Hello Markus1741,

thank you for your response and providing an additional dump. I am using Raspberry Pi and flashrom, I attached a picture of my setup. I'm connecting to the Raspberry Pi via SSH and run the flashrom command on the Pi itself. I also have a CH431A (black) but I used it only once, it was slow compared to the Pi and I read that it has some flaws about voltage (3V/5V).

At the moment I cannot read or write to the chip anymore, I think I need to replace it now. The chip model is MX25L12873F,...

    Hello hardware1,

thank you for directing me to that post. It is luckily the same serial number and CPU! I downloaded that BIOS but now I'm having problems flashing it.

I found out that the chip on that notebook was not fully supported by flashrom software. I wonder how it worked at the first place. I think I need a different programmer, or I need to replace the chip. I'll write here, if I make any progress.

    Hello volinakis,

thank you for your response. I'm using a Raspberry Pi and flashrom as programmer. I'll try to reach the masters you mentioned and hope that they can help me.

  • X1 Yoga 2nd Generation with a BIOS password

    Hello,

I have a X1 Yoga 2nd Generation with a BIOS password. I read the BIOS chip and patched it with the autopatcher. After I flashed the chip, the laptop is not booting anymore. Even I flash the original BIOS back, it is still not booting.

What can be the reason? I attached the original and patched files. I'll be very thankful if anyone can help.

    Best regards...
