This is my first post. Great to find such a helpful forum. Without this, I would never attempt some things I have in mind.

My monitor symptoms are a dark screen upon bootup with some slight lightened areas. After a Google search indicated that Samsung manufactured this Gateway monitor and it is known to have bad caps and the dark screen with slight highlights at edges was a common problem, I ordered a kit.

I now have the case apart, but am not so sure about replacing caps. I see none of the classic symptoms I expected to see; i.e. swollen case, oozing stuff, blackened...
