Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
Is the 1000uf cap likely to fail?

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
Well, the blue one is a Taicon 1000uf 25v cap while the black one is a 330uf 25v Ltec.

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
Actually, the 3600hgv works fine with another 12v power supply.

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
It outputs about 11.5v-12v with no load. How would I check the bridge rectifier? Sorry, I'm pretty new to this. What solder joints would you recommend I reflow?

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
What would cause the psu to be unable to start?

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
Actually, the fluctuation in the output coincides with the fluctuation on the big cap.

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
Is there anything I can do or test without buying new equipment? What are the possible causes for this fluctuation. Also, when the voltage fluctuates, there's a tiny click from the power supply but I'm not sure where.

Re: 2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
I want to wait until I have a bigger list of capacitors to buy as the shipping costs for just two or three capacitors is a bit high compared to the price of the capacitors themselves. The voltage on the big cap fluctuates from 166.4v-167.4v. I can't tell if any of the joints are cold because it was made using leadless solder.

2WIRE 3600hgv power suply
I was opening a 2WIRE power supply to check the voltages as the gateway wasn't too stable lately. However, after I opened, it wouldn't work at all. The 2WIRE would power on for a second or so and display a red power light and then turn off. I checked the voltages with a multimeter and the voltage would be about 6v when the light was on and almost 3v when the light was off. Any ideas as to what would cause this?...

Re: Ilive Speaker Dock 809B
How would I go about checking the transistor?...

Re: Ilive Speaker Dock 809B
The markings of the large square chip are TCR368-MCU and 2007-12-26. When I tested the SMD transistor, I got
a. 16.8 and increasing until the meter overloaded
b 17.46
c 17.63

Re: Ilive Speaker Dock 809B
The markings of Q1 seem to be SS8550 D 331.
Unfortunately, the warranty period is up so I can't return it.Last edited by ravenor; 01-04-2013, 09:43 PM.

Ilive Speaker Dock 809B
Hi, I have two speaker docks, model number: 809b that I bought from Costco, that stopped working a few months back. On one of them, the display flashes 12:00 but it won't connect to a speaker. On another one, the display doesn't light up at all but the wireless sync light flashes. I have uploaded the photos of the main PCB for the one whose display flashes 12:00....

Re: Princeton VL193 intermittent flicker
Same here, and 75Hz was supported but it still caused the problem.

Re: Princeton VL193 intermittent flicker
I think I've solved the problem for now. It turns out that the refresh rate was set to 75Hz, after I changed it to 60Hz, the problem went away.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'll be selling it soon. ...

Re: Princeton VL193 intermittent flicker
I have tested all the voltages and they are all stable(they changed by at most 0.01 volts). Here's the mainboard....

How would I test the DC voltage? Sorry, I'm still pretty new to troubleshooting electronics.

Princeton VL193 intermittent flicker
My VL193 flickers intermittently. The flicker usually goes away when I power it off and power it back on but sometimes it remains. I have posted pictures of an overhead view of the power supply and two closeups of the inverter....Last edited by ravenor; 05-09-2012, 07:34 PM.
