Re: Non working keyboard; bad caps to blame?
Do you think the badcaps are causing the keyboard error? I do bend the PCB a little when I push and pull, so could I be completing the circut of a bad cap?
I will take your advice, willawake and try to replace the caps. On the whole motherboard, I count 12 choyo caps. Only 2 look bad, the others look normal. How long do you think the caps have? I'd perfer not to recap them since the board is older.
Should I replace all the caps? There are 10 more TEAPO capacitors, smaller than those in the pic. Also one...

Non working keyboard; bad caps to blame?
Hello agian,
Here I have another mainboard. It is a FIC AZ11. My problem is when I turn it on, the keyboard doesn't work unless I pull the plug up, and push the ports forward. (see pic) I have tried several keyboards, but same result. The bios reports the keyboard as having an error, then I pull and push, the keyboard lights flash and the keyboard works... as long as I hold it there.
I read about another user replacing the caps, even though there was no apperent damage. After that the board worked correctly again.
This mainboard has CHOYO Capacitors,...

Re: CPU damage
Thats the way I fix them too, Topcat. Heh. Thanks everyone, for your help in resolving my confusion! What I did was I used an older AMD to test the motherboard, and it didn't work. I also used an older motherboard to test the chip which also failed. The memory however did survive. I dont really know the history of this system, but I might try to repair the mainboard. When I do, I will make sure to move my postings to the appropriate board.
Thanks again!
Smith

CPU damage
Hello
I have a question. I have a motherboard that wont boot, and I removed all the cards, and drives, and used a PCI BIOS code reader. The PCI Card told me that the problem was either the CPU or the Mainboard. So, If I replace the CPU with a known good one, and the mainboard is damaged, will it damage the CPU? And vice versa, CPU in known good motherboard.
Oh yeah, and I see these "refurbished" CPUs. What does that mean? I didnt think it was possible to repair the microcirutry... or even the pins!

Re: Bios corrupted, or bad caps?
The LED does light up, and the cable was in there correctly. All the floppy does is the cranking sound. So I took sulbert's advice. I renamed a new BIOS to amiboot.rom and after a few more codes, POST!! I didnt know you could reflash like that, it was cool!
Now my only question is, how would the BIOS get corrupted? Is it going to happen agian? Btw, willawake, as to your history question, the board was in operation about a year, to six months ago, when it just wouldn't come on anymore. There was no power surges, or physical abuse of...

Bios corrupted, or bad caps?
Hello everyone. I'm new here, and I like the site! Anyway, I have a FIC SD11 mainboard. The mainboard looks ok, no bent, buldgey or leady capacitors. However it will not POST. When I turn it on, out of the case, on the mainboard box so it's not being short circuted by the case, with a know good CPU, known good memory, and known good video card, the fans spin, but no screen. I have a little PCI card that displays BIOS codes, and so I plugged that in, and it says ED and stays there forever. I looked the code up in the booklet and it means that it says "Init floppy" I thought it odd, that...
