  • Digital Stream HD3150 Plus

    This is a set top ATSC tuner box that will not power on. I did some research on the net and found that a known problem is a bad capacitor issue and some have had success replacing. Upon further inspection my particular unit seems to have more that just a bad cap but wanted to check with you guys first before I trash the thing. Upon opening the box I observed; burn marks on the board, yellow goo on caps and other components, black goo on caps and other components. Pics are attached. Please advise if this looks fixable by replacing caps and other components. Thanks.

    Well, just finished replacing all caps and it looks like another success story. Unit powered up and produced a picture. The whole thing cost me about $12 bucks or so from digi-key. And a HUGE thanks to the person that posted the Digi-key part numbers earlier in the thread!!!!

    Hi guys. I have the same unit, and what appears to be the same issue. I'm going to give this fix a shot but I have a question. I cracked open the unit and none of the caps appear to be bulging, at least to the naked eye. Would I definitely be able to notice bulging?
