Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
I should clarify that the backlight is now turning on, in case that wasn't clear. Is testing the lamps still necessary?

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
The TV is now turning on again. I tested invr-on when it wasn't turning on, and it was showing 4.7 VDC. It's also reading 4.7 now when I turn it on.

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
The tv ran fine for the past 3 days straight, and then when i got home from work today the screen was off. No backlight, and the CN802 is showing 390VDC.
The red light is illuminated on the front of the tv, but the tv will not turn back on. When i press the on button, absolutely nothing happens.
I haven't tried unplugging and plugging the tv back in yet.
Thanks...Last edited by Mr.E; 03-27-2015, 07:29 PM.

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
The family member that I got it from said that the TV would randomly turn off. When I tested it, it would run fine for a week and then it shut itself off. The next time I tried starting it up a couple days later, it would turn on for 5 seconds, and then it would turn on. I was unable to get it to stay on after that.
Currently, it is on and appears to be fine....

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
The readings are:
13VS on CNM802 = 12.46VDC
CP815 = 390VDC

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
I went ahead and repaired the bridge. If there's a way to test it I would like to do that, otherwise lets hope I didn't screw up!

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
Thanks Budm!
CNM802 PIN3 (STB 5.3v) = 5.21
Should i go ahead and try to repair that connection between Ri870 and 871 now incase I mangle it and have to get a new board anyways?
Correction: I just noticed the bridge is between 871 and 872, but I assume it makes no difference.Last edited by Mr.E; 03-23-2015, 07:14 PM.

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
Can someone please tell me how to test the STR - W6252. This seems to be a similar problem so I figure it's worth a look. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15852 ?
Also, is the "bridge" that I scratched off between RI871 and RI872 fixable(mentioned in my previous post)?

It turned itself off. I didn't touch anything.
Thanks

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
That makes sense.
So I just plugged the tv back in and it ran for 10 minutes before turning off, where as before it would turn off after 5 seconds. Any suggestions where I should start looking?

Re: Samsung LN40B500P3F - Won't turn on
Hi, I think I am having either the same issue or a very similar issue to the ones mentioned in this thread. I have a Samsung LN40B500P3F with a BN44-00264A board. I got it for free from a family member, and they said occasionally it would just turn off. I plugged it in and left it running for 6 days and it seemed to work fine. The next time I went to turn it on, it would turn on for about 5 seconds and then turn off.
I have limited experience with this, with only having replaced obvious bulging caps on 2 different monitors,...

Re: Syncmaster 244T
I replaced all the caps and so far so good. The annoying buzz is gone! Thanks a lot everyone.

Re: Syncmaster 244T
jsog- i counted 3 as well but ordered replacements for all of them.
PlainBill- That's pretty clever. I am glad it is not an issue.
Any idea where i can find a new transformer? Are transformers generic or specific to every case?

Syncmaster 244T
I was given this monitor from a friend because the screen was all green or something when plugged in through component. I wont be using component and the image is just fine with VGA. The problem is a loud hum or buzzing noise that I have tracked down to the transformer. Is it possible to order a new one? There is also a rattling noise when I move the other pcb board. I have no idea where it is coming from or if its a problem but it sounds like a round ball inside one the capacitors perhaps. Any idea what this can be?
Image 78 has the transformer on the right and 81 has...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Thanks PlainBill. I originally planned to not replace the others but agree its probably a good choice.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 245BW
Hey, I was hoping someone here can help me. My Samsung 244t is starting to go. It takes about 15 seconds to turn on, but the bigger problem is a really annoying hum. The hum gets louder and quieter when I change the brightness up and down(it sometimes gets quieter after 30 minutes or so but still really noticeable).
There are 3 capacitors that are bulging so I am hoping that replacing them will fix the problem. I tried following a guide on here but I cant find the right replacement caps.
I need:
1x 1000uf 25v 10mm x 20mm...
