  • Re: SPI 400 PSU 1000uf to 1200uf??

i salvaged some 16V 1200uf caps from a dead p4p800-se motherboard. the high pitch electrical noise is gone and I'm running prime95 and a few other apps to see how stable this system will be, so far so good.

when my wife found out the other night that my main system was down she looked at me and said "don't you even think about taking over my acer netbook" lmao. well i'm glad i got it fixed and saved some dollars on a new psu. i'm also glad i don't have to look at the tiny 9" netbook screen anymore haha ...

    Hi it's a Sparkle (Fortron I'm guessing) FSP400-60THN 400watt

I have really bad luck, as a Computer Technician I've installed 100's and 100's of Sparkle power supplies. Over the 12 years that I've been in this industrial I've noticed very low failure rates on these supplies. My previous job we worked on major tenders for the school board, government, corporations like 3M and Fortron or Sparkle was always our go to power supply. Our warranty with these clients were either 2-3 year guarantees. Out of the 1000's of systems,...

  • SPI 400 PSU 1000uf to 1200uf??

I've read that on motherboards it's ok to go up in capacitance but would it be ok to do the same within a power supply?? i have a couple bulging teapo 6.3v 1000uf caps and only have 2x 10v 1200uf replacements on hand. hopefully replacing the caps will get this sucker back up and running. i noticed some electrical noise coming from the unit as well.

    thanks in advance
