Re: MSI RX 590 8gb armor
Hey thanks for the answer !
I manage to remove and change the CHL 8510 driver !
Lucky, I saw no damage under the IC .
But I'm not having any sign of life : the GPU stay cold, no fans spinning on the GPU.
I checked for shorts on PCI lane 12v and 3.3v and found no shorts.
I checked my coil pin and I haven't found any shorts there neither: 0.9 ohm on each pin to ground, which is fine from what I read.
I checked my fuse (found 2) and are good.
I checked the "big"...

MSI RX 590 8gb armor
Hello everyone !
I'm trying to fix a dead RX 590 from MSI.
I found 2 dead part :
- a 220nF capacitor (C119) on the pci-e line who blew up.
- IC driver CHL 8510 (U4) picture attached
I changed the capacitor C119 picture attached
I can't desolder the IC Driver with my rework station, event blowing at 450°c. The tin doesn't seem to melt, I don't understand.
Is there a world that the chip fuse with the PCB ?
How can I safely remove the chip ?
And for remplacement, I can't find the reference...Last edited by gluton; 04-28-2022, 11:45 AM.
