  • Re: Glueing Two Sided Flex Ribbon,Jaguar XJS Instrument cluster.

Hey If you are trying to glue plastic together then any glue will work. If you are trying to glue the actual flex cable then I would say hot glue would be the safest option. You can even use it to cover whatever is exposed. I googled it and it appears to be a big flex with many traces. What exactly are you trying to glue and are you sure it doesn't need to be soldered?

    Please attached pictures.

  • Re: Ipad 5 (2017 A1822) Need help identifying component

The short is gone without me doing anything. While I was looking for a schematic/board view, the short fixed itself. I connected everything back up and it's working just fine.

This is great but not a fix. I don't want to seal it back up to find it not working in a day or two. I waited a day and still not short. This iPad had the screen replaced a few times and home button but I don't believe nor see any evidence of anyone touching the board.

Any suggestions on what to do?

mon2, would you be able to send me the schematic you have for this iPad. Since my last post I have continued to search and still cant find anything specifically for the 5. I also figured out that its not the coil lol.

Update to follow shortly as I just won a donor board on ebay.

Thank you guys so much for all of this useful info. Thermal cam is too expensive at least for now but I do have rosin I can use.

Question, I changed the charging port without any issues or torn pads but this being my first one could that possible cause any of this? Should I leave it or remove it and check?

Honestly thank you all. Learning this is so hard at least for me and my only source was YouTube which is always so easy to watch till I get to my bench and feel like I'm at zero. Truly thank...

  • Ipad 5 (2017 A1822) Need help identifying component

    Hello all,

I have an ipad 5 that came in for home button repair. Issue fixed and return to the customer who then stated it also has battery/charge issues. The battery seemed fine however the ipad would acknowledge the charger every other time. The port looked fine but considering that it would work than not, I decided to change the port. Port changed and yet it draws zero amps. Removed the shield and found this burned component. Tried to find a board view but seems like the ipad 5 is the only ipad for which board views don't exist.

Yes I should have definitely done...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello everyone,

My name is Gleb and I'm from Brooklyn, NY.

I have always loved making and fixing things, just generally working with my hand, and electronics. I taught myself woodworking, lockpicking/smith and have tried to learn electronics but that has always been impossible regardless of my many attempts. Finally some months back I decided to take another stab at it and things started to click. I am still very new and still have many questions and get confused easily. I have a small workstation...
