Re: Old GA-7VT600 missing caps
Well, it`s job done. Thanks for the photos and info provided by you guys.
In total, I`ve put 5 caps, some crappy one, but it`ll do.
I guess 6 hours with prime95 makes it a pretty reliable mb.
The sound issue is still there. I fixed that too by putting a cheap sound card in it.
Thanks to all of you!

Re: Old GA-7VT600 missing caps
that is what I was looking for, Uranium.
I had a feeling that 3300uF @6.3V are needed and now I`m sure.
Sadly, at the moment I only have KZG caps salvaged from another mobo.
Thanks all for replies!

Re: Old GA-7VT600 missing caps
Thanks for the info mariushm, I`ll have to do some research!
@Spitz Yes, probably the caps were used on another mb but I didn`t remove them. That`s why I asked in the first place.
Still, can`t explain how can it work with 4 caps missing...

Old GA-7VT600 missing caps
Found this forum just a week back and it`s awesome, lots of useful stuff here and the community is just outstanding. Thanks for existing!
I got a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 MB, salvaged from recycle bin, because I thought it was faulty.
One day I decided to test it once again and to my surprise it worked well at first glance. I`ve installed an OS, drivers and even some games. But then for unknown reason I removed it from the case to discover that it has about 4 caps(EC31,EC33,EC36,EC38) missing (didn`t noticed this when putting it in). I must admit that I didn`t stress test...Last edited by Murdok; 08-26-2011, 10:31 AM.
