Re: A guide on how to troubleshoot 2 seconds to black
It's my understanding, SteveNielsen, that a Tube contains in gas form,
inert gases such as Argon -> but the Mercury is mainly in the 'powder'
that coats the interior tube wall and is present in a loose minute quantity.
That powder can still be dislodged from the walls - therefore it's still a
health hazard(!), also if disposed off in normal trash collection where it
can leach from the dump down into the water table (eventually).

Re: A guide on how to troubleshoot 2 seconds to black
i.e.; 'using a spare CCFL previously obtained.'
AAhh, I understand.
Another suggestion;
On this webpage;
http://pkrobot.freehostia.com/LCDRepair9.htm
the guy took apart an LCD ( HP VS19 ) and found that he had forgotten
to record how all the diffuser screens were meant to be reorientated
for reassembly. These 'diffuser screens' (is there a better word for them?)
could be mentioned e.g.;
DISASSEMBLY
=====
Behind the LCD screen there...

Re: Gigabyte G945GCMX-S2 ? Bad caps or bad board ?
Th3_Un1Qu3 may have the more correct direction then, ...maybe
to download some of the various chips (on this motherboard)
documentation to see if their outputs are within expected ranges...
that russki website mentioned e.g. "Departed PWM power supply"
as seen problem on thesel boards, another post there gave e.g.
measured voltages for most of the mosfets if i remember correctly...

Re: Gigabyte G945GCMX-S2 ? Bad caps or bad board ?
Probably not even going to need same chip... just came across
some apparent equivalencies on this webpage;
http://bios-repair.co.uk/Products/EEPROM/Reference/SPI-Cross-Reference.html
so if the 8Mb parts can be swapped, checking should reveal a similar
level of equivalency for the 4Mb's, surely?

Re: Gigabyte G945GCMX-S2 ? Bad caps or bad board ?
[Or perhaps you would like to peruse these first?]
If that avenue of testing is unfruitful, then these webpages describe some
testing actions on this motherboard; (Warning->it's all in Russlish)

Re: Gigabyte G945GCMX-S2 ? Bad caps or bad board ?
OK, manual from Gigabyte for this board says
"Supports Xpress BIOS Rescue", although towards the end of
the manual it doesn't show the operation of that feature.
& from here;
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?PHPSESSID=bbcie8nqkoc82ep9e0qihdmup2&topic=163.15
it appears that 'Xpress BIOS Rescue' may be the same as 'Virtual Dual Bios'.
"On every boot up of the MB, it checks the hard disk if there is any bios
image inside it.
If there is no bios...Last edited by buyerninety; 07-05-2012, 03:43 AM.

Re: Gigabyte G945GCMX-S2 ? Bad caps or bad board ?
[edit; just remembered, this boardname apparently only HAD a ver 6.6]
I've got a GA-945GCMX-S2 Ver 6.6 (ver printed in corner closest to PCI
connectors), 3 caps close CPU socket are Sanyo 16V 1500uF N.E. 73 WG,
FOUR poly caps 4V 560mF (with 724 SEPC on top, written in purple), and
ONE poly cap same except 723 (not 724) located at tiny printed marked
position DEC4 (between two of the 724's).
Medium caps along RAM & PCI slots are Nichion C0728 PET 6.3V 1000uF
except for KZG 16V...

Re: A guide on how to troubleshoot 2 seconds to black
"and plug in spare CCFL"...
a)Most panels contain a spare CCFL?
b)Many panels contain a spare CCFL?
c)Panels occaisionally have a spare CCFL?
d)Panels rarely contain a spare CCFL?
Please clarify in the guide which of the above statements most closely
reflects current manufacturing practice.
(If there are brands which pretty much always provide spare CCFL,
maybe identify them down in the thread - they're the ones I'd be
keeping an eye out...

Re: USB not working on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Ouch! ICH5 intergrates USB internally.
These webpages note ASUS P4P and P4C mobos notorious
for USB faults;
http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84122&pp=15&page=6
More Gloom, post #90 there.
[Mobo has 'USB device wake up' jumper also...in view of poor ESD
protection for USB on these mobos, maybe safer to leave in off
position, if your mobo ICH5 still works.]Re: USB not working on Asus P4C800-E...SB internally.

Re: USB not working on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
Prob Hardware fault like previously suggested, however peruse this;
http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f15/p4c800-e-deluxe-usb-2-0-ports-dont-work-49188.html
Whenever I have a problem w hardware or are considering buying
such, I find the two most useful words are 'fault' and 'problem' where
e.g. --> nnnn fault
is the input into Google and nnnn is the item.
Cheers
also refer page 2-30 [diagram] of the manual, maybe measure from the
mobo headers provided for the 'additional...

Re: Epox 9NDA3+ with exsessive coil noise
Per Hansson probably no longer has this motherboard but....am I the
only person who seems to notice [refer post #6] that the middle coil
on this board seems to only have 14 TURNS, while the outside two
coils have 15 turns... 3phase pwr, mmmm...no wonder it sang in pain..
incidently this webpage mentions whine fm EP-9NDA+ also;

and I might as well mention that some Epox manuals/drivers CAN be
still...
