Thanks, you are correct. I believe 1 of the batteries has a dead cell. I just measured 10.92V on one battery and 13.2V on the other.

I believe this has to do with a too high float voltage.

I got home this evening and was greeted by a loud fan noise coming from my SmartUPS 1400 XL. The unit itself was not that hot however the battery compartment was probably 50C (touch). There was no load on the UPS today I turned the PC that was plugged into it off this morning. Also I do not believe that we lost power today since my other ups is absolutely cold and that has a running PC. I got the unit about 2 years ago on eBay. The batteries at that time were supposed to be new although the unit was a refurbished. I tried to remove the batteries but it appears that is not easy since there is no...
