Memtest is not all that great I've used it and still had to swap memory try once more seating 1 at time and different sticks too.
Does the MCP feel burning hot? The installer loading over and over really does not sound good.
Run ASD and see what that says

Sort of makes me think about getting another BGA machine LOL
Awhile back I used to do a ton of GPU BGA replacements.

I feel totally dumb LOL.
I just removed the heatsink and the smaller part of CPU is shattered .

R1450 removed is 330k
In diode mode? Red probe ground I get 0 with the resistor on board and off

I decided to check r1450 PCH_DSWVRMEN resistor is good measured off board but I get 0 in diode mode leading to PCH good board gives around 450 .
I'm getting 2.2v with it back on pin 2 .
I wonder is this way to confirm I may have bad PCH?Leave a comment:

I think this one is done I get all voltage on flowchart till PM_SLP_SUS_L . I am using original 85w magsafe 2 charger.
My last attempt would be to replace SMC.

I saw your post on here where you once had "open circuit inner layer track for PP3V3_SUS"

I got most all those voltage except
P3V3SUS_EN is missing for PP3v3_SUS I suppose I have dead PCH?
I get 0V on PM_RSMRST_L PM_PWRBTN_L PM_BATLOW_L and of course PP3v3_SUS.
I don't have scope to check clock chip but I did change that.
Also If I check 5v coil L7520 In diode mode it is complete short to ground L7560 has diode reading of 040 but thats irrelevant with missing PM_SLP_S4 ?

Not 100% certain but the fact your getting image in 2 corners leans more to VRAM .
Did you start with replacing thermal paste?
If no change...
your best bet its start by
Reflowing all vram see if problem clears up .
If not replace 2 at a time from donor, buy stencil.Leave a comment:

Ok I now have 2.93v for some reason on SMC_PM_G2_EN
PPBUS_G3H is infact 8.6v no battery.
Is the SMC in some sort of reset mode because the battery went dead or was bad? (SMC_RESET_L) is one side of r5100 3.4v other side 3.10v
SMC supplies would be 3.3v at L5501 and 1.2v at c5010?

Order Apple original make sure your using original OEM Battery and Charger before you dig deep!

820-00165 No start
No water damage ,BUT! The Shield on U2800 come off and was rattling around inside the board -JOY! (Thunderbolt Host Ic). The customer said it was working while it rattled but then it stopped , I noticed the battery was low charge icon from a working motherboard. I tried with fully charged battery no change.
All rails were good until I got to PPVRTC_G3H it was very low I replaced u1900 and it came to 3.3V
U7501 gives 5V at PP5V_S5 C7505 and I get 3.3v at PP3V3_S5_REG_R

Definitely tried the Pram and SMC reset but nothing changed.....Got ahold of another topcase , it was either the trackpad ,tp cable or the keyboard.
The Mac is fully working .
Its strange it worked with Ubuntu. I'm leaning more to it being the trackpad was bad because the cable was unkinked and perfect? At one point I was able to boot into a older os version via usb and the keyboard lit up but still no mouse , no cap lock .

In mac osx there is no keyboard no kb backlight or mouse.
But if I boot into usb ubuntu everything works just fine. If I boot into usb installer of diff mac os version it gives the mouse and keyboard sign so I know its not the drive.
I tried the decrypt drive I saw on youtube but that didn't work.
I tested the connector on pin 10 14 and 20 all have normal voltage.
Sort of stumped here.
I will throw out that this board had no screen backlight I replaced q7707 and Driver IC and it is fixed , is there some possibility...Last edited by macattack600; 03-05-2022, 08:31 PM. -

I Reballed SMC and the board is fully working, I got lucky I scraped the pad and did not have to run wire.

SMC_PM_G2_EN was not present at all.
I inspected SMC and saw light corrosion under pin 82 SMC_XTAL.
Removing BGA it was infact corroded on 4 points and it pulled pad #82 because of corrosion. Luckily I can run wire since i'm on the edge of the chip .
