Re: UN70NU6900FXZA power cycle, no picture - workaround found
Thanks again for the feedback - especially the safety tips
I won't be soldering either since I'm not really that steady or confident with this procedure.
With these measurements, or trying something else that involves a simple test, is there a way to tell if my issue lies with a problem in the Mainboard or within the LCD drivers? If the former, than I could try another purchased board but they really are hard to come by or expensive...

Re: UN70NU6900FXZA power cycle, no picture - workaround found
Thankful you're looking into this...
Following your exact procedure: with the ribbon unplugged but tv on (backlights are on), top and bottom readings are 0.117V. With tv on standby, readings = 0V. With plugging in ribbon after turning on = 25.4V.
Resistor measures 10.3 ohms on standby, 10.3 ohms with backlights on, 18 ohms when top ribbon plugged in and after being on with red probe on top (North) side and black probe on bottom (South) side but 2.6 ohms with probes revers...

Re: UN70NU6900FXZA power cycle, no picture - workaround found
I measured the voltage of the R13246 and found that when the ribbon is plugged in (after connecting it with the tv already on) it measures 25V on the north side but the south (other side) = 0V.
With the ribbon unplugged, it measures 0V for both sides.
Using chart, measured Pin 95 (FB_TRDY_3) = 0.003V
What is FB_TRDY_3 ?Last edited by Lupin3; 06-22-2022, 08:00 PM.

Re: UN70NU6900FXZA power cycle, no picture - workaround found
I too have been dealing with this issue. I have a complete picture when one of the ribbons is connected and then I turn the tv on and then carefully connect the second ribbon and voila.
I found that if both ribbons are connected and I tape the 2nd pin of the longer ribbon (or is it the 2nd last pin counting down from the top), the tv does not go into the 2-blink shut-down anymore but I have no picture just sound in the on position.
I believe this is the STV pin I'm covering but do not know its...

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
I've seen the Youtube videos where removing the dead caps from the LCD driver board would get it to work, but with my lack of expertise, I would probably ruin the board or get rid of wrong ones!
I wish there was a way to trace the bad cap(s) to the correct ribbon pin(s) to cover the short......

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
The LVDS ribbons make great contact now b/c from all the trials and errors of taping, I had to cut the ribbons down since they were coming apart. The image is perfect when plugging in the top ribbon for the left side of screen when tv is on....

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Had a break from being busy...so I gave up on the tape trick and took it entirely off of the ribbons.
I installed the top ribbon (left side of screen) carefully with the tv on (I know - not good) but I have a perfect picture! I ran a colour test from Youtube and the colours are uniform both left and right of the screen - no bad markings!
I don't want to shut it down b/c it will start with only sound and backlights again...
I'm left with this question...If the LCD panel was bad, it...

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Ok, after more tedious trial and errors with the tape trick, I managed to have an image once again!
I even managed to eliminate any horizontal lines by moving the tape to different pins.
The only thing I can't get rid of is that across the 1/4 to 1/3 top of the screen is a brighter bar noticeable from all the lower part of the entire screen. Can't watch without noticing it!
I'm stuck...
Any suggestions?

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
I've checked (continuity) more caps on the integrated Main/T-Con Board and found some not reading either...I'm testing with the power unplugged.
If anyone could help me in deciding if there's a chance that the Main Board is not functioning correctly and keeps the led driver/image from showing?
I know there's are a lot of factors at play here but to narrow down to only one problem item (if that's even possible) would help me decide if to order an expensive Main Board or call it quits b/c of the...

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Yes - patience I got but I drink too much coffee to work on replacing the caps because of the small parts involved you really need steady hands.
I checked the other side of the driver board and found a few caps not beeping too... should all caps be showing something when tv is unplugged?
Can I definitely rule out a Main Board issue? Was hoping to buy a replacement but if this is not the problem then I guess will sell it for parts on ebay...
Thanks for all your help by the way

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Yes it did work with the tape the first time. This time I can't restore the image after positioning the tape in endless ways...perhaps more caps blown?
I'm a newbie at attempting to fix this and trying to justify a big spend on this tv with the warranty now expired.

Re: Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Optical Lite works on Main Board.
I hope I am testing correctly (see attached pic)...I tested the caps and most read properly as you said but 3 or 4 caps I cannot get them to beep or measure. Is it possible to block these caps out with tape on the LVDS lines? I know the video driver board is one unit with the panel and I'm far from being a pro about replacing caps......

Is this Samsung UN70NU6070FXZC 70 inch TV worth keeping?
Have a UN70NU6070FXZC that I finally got working with the tape trick (youtube video) covering some of the LVDS cable connections. Picture was great for a few months then I went to turn it on one day and got no image. Background LEDs and sound work ok but I tried many combinations of the tape trick but couldn't produce an image this time. Could I have just been extending the death of the panel? From what I researched, is it the video driver that may be toast?
Any input would be appreciated...
