I have a Hisense H6570G. It had similar symptoms. It would turn on and get to the Android load screen, and sometimes it would get all the way to the start page, but then it would shut off. If I left it off longer before trying again it would stay on a bit longer before shutting down. The behavior led me to suspect an over heating issue, likely a bad capacitor. I opened it up to diagnose the problem and on visual inspection I noticed two capacitors with bulged tops. The location is circled in red below. The other image includes the caps I removed. They are Jianghai JH CD266 series with values 10...

Re: Sony SA-CT60 soundbar component ID
Thank you, R_J, I've read up on SPG and it is a perfect fit. Knowing what the component is and what it does is helping me figure out the circuit.

Would you happen to know what the color bars mean?

Sony SA-CT60 soundbar component ID
I have two components on the board that have designator GT that I am unfamiliar with. They look like glass diodes but diodes on this board are labeled with D. My search so far leads me to suspect they might be gas discharge tubes for transient suppression but they don't look quite like any gas tubes I have seen before. I hope somebody will know what they are.

Re: PlayStation 4 SAB-001 component identification
Perhaps I tested the wrong component. I thought I was checking the one you pointed too. Unfortunately I no longer have that board to verify it.
Are you sure about the black color always is a resistor? It seems that is normal but I wonder if it is a rule.

Re: Reading resistor value by color band
I've never run across one of those. Thanks for teaching me something today!...

Re: Reading resistor value by color band
Those are standard values. The left resistor if it is read the other way would be 1MΩ 2%.
Hints: The first band is never black, gold or silver;
Gold and silver only the last 2 bands.

Re: Need Digital Microscope Software (free)
Amcap and CoolingTech are the names of two that I have used for a USB digital microscope.

Re: need some help to identify a component from Asus AC87U router
The case could be a U-DFN2020-6. That plus the markings makes me think it could be made by Diodes Incorporated. They use a 2 letter product type code and a date code that is turned 90 degrees like yours does on some of their parts. I have not found that marking after a quick search but this might help you with a way to narrow your search.

Are these resistors supposed to be shifted like this?
I am working on a Sony HT-CT60 soundbar. It came to me not working. When I try to turn it on the lights come on for a second then it turns off. I found two of the electrolytic caps had bulging tops so I removed them. The others ones nearby tested good.
My question is these SMD resistors. Four of them are sitting at an angle with one end connected to the neighboring cap. It looks to me like something I might expect to see if they had been moved by a hot air gun blowing on them, but AFAIK nobody has tried to repair this before.
Could this be intentional and by design...

PS4 SMD capacitor value?
I was replacing the HDMI encoder IC on this PS4 last night and got too much heat into the first cap on pin 64 (red box in image). It was moved off of the pads and when I picked it up with tweezers it went flying somewhere.
Does anybody have the value of this cap? If nothing else I will just replace it with a 100 nF but I would prefer to use the correct value.

Re: PS4 motherboard LEDs purpose?
OK, that makes sense. I didn't know about that light. I don't actually own or play the PS4. I am just repairing it for someone.

PS4 motherboard LEDs purpose?
I was looking over this PS4 SAB-001 board checking for any obvious damage and I came across these right-angle SMD LEDs mounted on the back of the board. I don't understand what they are there for. Can anybody help me figure this out?

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Howdy all. I am a retired engineer but I wasn't born that way. My first experience working with hardware was in 1981, modifying my Commodore Vic-20 to add some expanded memory with a cartridge. I added a toggle switch to enable the 16KB of RAM and remap the memory. When I had picked enough berries to afford them, I eventually got a C64 and my first floppy drive to replace the cassette tape drive.
I had some time away from computers when I joined the military but when I returned to civilian life in the early 1990s...
