Thank you for answer.I was hoping it will be you who answers since I can tell you have a lot of knowledge..
I can trace it back(it is a little hard but I can do it) and I have the datasheet of the amplifier ic.And I have instruments to check capasitors and signal presence(esr meter and oscilloscope).
I think the problem is before that somewhere in the volume ic or in the opamps ..
I will check it tomorrow and write back.

Since a lot of people are having problems with those speakers, here's mine:
A friend brought it to me because they didn't work at all..aOf course power supply was bad.
I replace it with another 15V supply and it seemed to be OK..
That happened 3 monthes ago.Yesterday he told me that the sub wasn't working at all so he brings it back and sure enough he is right.
I search it a little and realise that the amplifier ic for the sub doesn't get any signal in its input pin.

It was the charger to blame after all..It was defective( dj_ricoh mentioned that but I didn't realise it had a problem)
It didn't have any voltage(or whatever control signal) in center pin and the laptop looked like it had a bigger problem but it didn't.
I just short circuited the central pin with the + and it is working fine now.

Yes,it was brought to my with the original charger,the one that it was working from the begining..
After that I power it up with my power supply so I can measure its current consumption.It behaves exactly the same on both cases.Leave a comment:

Hello everyone.
I have this Elitebook which when I press power button it flashes its charging led 9 times and does nothing else..
I have it connected to my lab power supply and it draws only 5-6 mA..
The net is full with people with the same problem, but don't see any real solution .

Hello
It is common for that model to have problem and not showing optical drive.
The problem is in motherboard not in drive.It is also very common that it can not even pass initial screen(press F2 .. etc ) if you keep the drive in its place.

I have fix 4 or five of them..It is a classic symptom of bad soldering on northbridge chip.
It is the big bga chip right next to the CPU,they share the same pipeline.
You can be sure if you press the on button and at the same time you apply pressure(rather hard) on it..
You have to reflow or better reball to fix it.
