Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
Thanks diff this is where I was getting confused. I wasn't expecting the chip to have that semi-clear look to it around the black center.
So an update... I reflowed the first chip, seemed to go well, reflowed the second chip and unfortunately slightly bumped the board right at the wrong time and the chip slid of the contacts a bit. I tried to do my best to realign but either way not good. Feel like its pretty much impossible at this point without more professional tools to get the chip back on in the correct...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
Sorry to hear about your reflow. I took a look at that thread and has a lot of great info. I didn't seen anything specific regarding what looks like a protective plastic cover over the two main chips. I'll post over there and see if they have any thoughts. Seems like for a successful reflow I would somehow need to remove that to get flux in there. But who knows maybe I am not understanding what I am looking at. Thanks again

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
OK thanks for checking on this. So sure sounds like the boards I received are compatible but unfortunately bad.
So now going back to the reflow method and the original picture of my board... how do I handle the plastic covering the chips? Without removing them it seems I wouldn't be able to get the flux around the actual chips and possibly not hot enough?
Thanks for all the help and knowledge.

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
To be honest when looking at replacements I wasn't looking at the white sticker. Was using the white text printed actually on the board and maybe where things went wrong.
white sticker:
original board - 674B
replacement board 1 - 690B
replacement board 2 - 664A
They were all 0160CAP09E00

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
Well I received another replacement mainboard and same problem. The only difference between my original board and now the two replacement boards is the optical light stays red on the replacement boards. I guess it could be that both replacement mainboards sent are bad. I am going to reflow my original board. However I did notice that under the heat sink the chips have some plastic cover over them. Does this need to be removed somehow before I reflow. They sure seem attached quite well and blocking the heat. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere....

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
Found the fuse and I get what your saying. First need to get t con on voltage coming from the mainboard to even make checking the fuse relevant. You are probably right about the replacement board being bad as well. Was just hoping this wouldn't be the case. Maybe I'll go back to my old board and try heating it up a few more times. Thanks for the help.

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
Sorry I think what I said was misleading. My original mainboard was an issue and I did the heat trick and it worked for a little while and broke again. I attempted to do the same trick again and didn't work. So I then ordered a replacement mainboard and it did not fix my issue. So now I am looking into the t con board for problems assuming that likely the mainboard I received is good. This fuse mentioned on the t con board interested me but cannot find it. I am getting no t con on voltage on pin 15. PS-ON works as expected when powering TV...

Re: Vizio M70-C3 ... Help with Diagnosis
I couldn't find a fuse on the t-con board. Where is is this actually? I originally fixed mine with the heating up the mainboard and worked for a little bit and then broke again. I ordered a replacement mainboard and it did not fix the issue. Now looking into the t con board and this fuse assuming the mainboard I ordered was good. Thanks...

Re: VIZIO M70-C3 Power Supply?
Ok thanks for the response. I did try heating with a heat gun without taking off the heat sink but I may need to go at it again with taking heat sink off. Might get better results. Thanks again

Re: VIZIO M70-C3 Power Supply?
Have the exact same issues and voltages you were reporting. Did you ever come up with a fix? Thx...
