Hey guys,
So I bought a controller kit for an LCD panel I had lying around, but before I could test the kit out I accidentally broke the LVDS connector on the panel when unplugging the existing LVDS cable from it. Any idea where I can find a replacement?
I believe the part is an I-Pex 20455 connector. I can't seem to find anything anywhere that sells this part in quantities of less than 100 pieces. So, I thought I'd check on here to see if anyone knew of anywhere that I could get this part in smaller quantities. Thanks for your help!...

Re: HP G62 won't power on. Burnt IC - Can't identify.
Nice. That was my plan.
In the datasheet you provided the AO4712 is used in conjunction with an AO4496. On my board I've found an AO4712 used in conjunction with a NIKOS P2003BVG (in the power circuit, whereas the one that fried was down by the CMOS battery). Upon looking at both datasheets the specs of the two chips are similar but still a bit different. How sensitive are these circuits. Will it matter if the power/current ratings are off by a bit?

Re: HP G62 won't power on. Burnt IC - Can't identify.
I had already tried the heat gun (I have a reflow station). The IC basically fell apart. The board seems to have been damaged too as a couple of the legs wouldn't come off and lifted the top layer of the PCB. Luckily, the three pins on the IC where the PCB started lifting are all connected internally and there is another connection point nearby. It might end up being a bit of a hack, but it may just work. Here's to hoping!

HP G62 won't power on. Burnt IC - Can't identify.
Hey guys,
I have an HP G62-358CA laptop that won't power on. When the power button is pressed the machine powers up then shuts off (within half a second). I've opened up the case and found a burnt IC near the RTC battery (PQ67). I can't read the label due to damage and therefore can't find the part number.
None of HP service manuals go into "schematic-level" detail so I haven't been able to figure out this ICs function nor where to find a replacement for it.
Is anyone familiar with this part of the circuit that can lend a hand in identifying...

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Hey guys...
Sorry for the late reply, but I finally got the part (MX25L1005MC with firmware) and replaced it tonight and the monitor works like a charm!
Thanks for all of your help. I hope this solutions helps you out Tim (and all others who have a similar issue).Last edited by docksteaderluke; 11-14-2011, 07:04 PM.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Hey Tim,
I'm still waiting on the part (shipping from China is SLOW). It should be here within the next 2 or 3 days. As soon as I try it out I'll post back here to let everyone know if it worked.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Found one from ebay that HAS been programmed... How does this look?

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Does anyone know if there is any way to test the MX25L1005MC flash IC on the logic board? I can't find a full blown logic board replacement but this IC seems to be an issue with some...

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
k. So I hooked it up to the 17" LCD panel and the backlight turns on (all white) then off. So it must be the logic board for sure now. I don't think it's a short in the inverter since I swapped it for a new one and it still did the same thing.
So any ideas on where to source a new logic board?

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Still flashing on and off (LG Logo displayed on the screen for a second or two... then everything turns off) with the front button panel disconnected from the logic board.
Any idea where I can source a replacement logic board? I figure I may as well start looking now but can't seem to find anything via google/ebay...
Are the voltages coming from the inverter pretty much standard across the board? I have an old 17" Samsung that I might hook up to the LG PSU to see if the display keeps turning on or off. That way I'll know...

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Symptoms are exactly the same. Both the power LED and the display turn on and off. It only ever gets as far as displaying the LG logo on the screen then shuts off and repeats.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
So now, if knowing for a fact that this isn't the power board, it seems the only thing left is either the logic board or panel itself. Thoughts?

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Hey guys. It's been a while but I got my hands on a replacement power supply and the problem still remains so it seems like that eliminates the power supply. Where am I hooking up the tail light bulb? to the backlight connectors (CN501-CN504)? Is this still necessary if I know for a fact that the power supply is good?

Oh snap! Nice find! That's it for sure.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Yes... 3 and 4 are ground pins and the measurements I gave you were with respect to those pins. So... the first measurement was between pins 3/4 and 1/2 which yielded 5V as expected. And you can see that when the backlight is on the load is slightly higher and the voltage drops a wee bit (4.98V when the backlight is on as opposed to 5.09V when the backlight is off) which is expected. That much seems right.Last edited by docksteaderluke; 08-04-2011, 07:44 AM.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Here are the measurements I get:
Pin (Label) - Backlight ON, Backlight Off
1/2 (Power) - 4.98V, 5.09V
5 (On/Off) - ~2.9V, ~0.4V
6 (Brightness) - <0.2V, 3.3V

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Hey guys. My replacement caps finally arrived! I swapped out all of the electrolytic caps and tried hooking the monitor up again and it does the same thing! Looks like it wasn't any of those caps after all. Could it be the EEPROM chip on the logic board? I had read in another thread that it can sometimes get corrupted.
Help!

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
Varying the brightness voltage from ~0V to ~5V does not seem to have had any effect. Waiting on the caps to ship. When they arrive I'll swap 'em out and get back to you. So, does it seem like the consensus is that it's the power supply. I can probably order a new one for $35ish (ebay!) if the recap doesn't work.

Re: LG W2234S Repair Help...
I'm sourcing some caps right now. I'll give some of your other suggestions a try when I get home from work.
When rigging a resistance load (to the inverter outputs I'm assuming) what sort of resistance is needed?
