Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
I finally got another replacement MB. Problem Solved.
So the first MB was DOA. The second powered up but had a bad T-con section on the board. Third time's a charm.
I might take the original board in to see what went wrong. But thank you for all your help.

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
I would suspect that those might be T-con but someone else said that T-con is part of the MB on these TVs.
Either way, i haven't seen those 2 small circuit boards on any parts list so I'm not sure how to proceed.
Could the half and half screen be from the MB, the flat ribbon cables or those 2 tiny boards? There isn't much left beside a panel but all the backlights seem to work fine

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Here are some close up shots of the small circuit boards that the flat cables run into near the bottom of the tv. The flat cables run from the MB to these 2 separate small boards.
I cleaned the ends of the ribbon cables with alcohol to see if that would get rid of the yellowish vertical lines and the half dark screen....

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Thanks again
I'll try and answer multiple questions from above here:
Yeah, sometimes I'm dumb. Just had to pair the remote with the TV.
The TV was working PERFECT before the power outage.
I bought the EXACT same board that was in the TV.
I reset when I got the screen up. Half the screen is still darker. Attached photo below.
The backlights seem to be working good. They appear to be the same brightness when viewed from...

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Well, almost good news.
I got a used mainboard. Installed it. Power is on and picture is up BUT half the screen is darker on one side (some faint lines going from top to bottom on left side of screen when screen is black)
Also, the remote only turns the TV on and off. No other functions. I tried taking out batteries and holding power button to reset but it didn't work

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Thanks. I don't have a programmer. I just looked into them on Amazon - very affordable but might be above my skill level. If these just plug into the chip and then USB I can probably handle it.
Also, I can't find a bios link anywhere on this site or the internet for this MB. From the ch341a I could clear the eeprom and download the info from a link? Is there more to it than that?Last edited by rgla; 12-01-2021, 10:15 AM.

Re: Samsung UN65MU8000FXZA Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Thanks for replying.
Those are the exact numbers on my board posted in your image from post #22.
This is a bit over my head:
"now it remains to read the data from the IC1604 programmer and put the dump here"
if it's a firmware update and the board still lives - that would be great. Although how do you do a firmware update on a brick?

Re: Samsung 65 Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
All the voltage readings I took were on the cold side. I grounded to a screw hole / chassis in the back of the TV.
New batteries, new multimeter.
It seems like the other readings were fine so I suspect the 96 is a correct reading. As soon as I disconnect the main board it goes down to 4.5
Why would the standby jumper pin not measure 7.5 or 11.8?
With the main board connected the voltage was 9v
Withe the main board DISCONNECTED the voltage was 12.85

Re: Samsung 65 Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Thanks for the follow up help. Here are the voltages I got on the standby link (jumper?) (HOT side of board)
The TV was not ON. It was just plugged in. It won't turn on so I'm not sure how to assess the info from the board:
According to the board it should be 7.5 standby and 11.8 on.
With the main board connected the voltage was 9v
Withe the main board DISCONNECTED the voltage was 12.85
somewhat similar to what I was getting at the cable connection pins.
Still...

Re: Samsung 65 Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
I'm pretty new to this so excuse this question.
I did find a "pin" in the middle of the power board that says "stndby" 7.5 ON 11
Not sure what this is called - a pin? it looks almost like a staple that's about an inch long. How do I test this? set meter to VDC, Ground the black meter probe to the body of the TV and touch the red probe to the staple/pin (it's in the middle of the board and doesn't have a cable or anything near it.

Re: Samsung 65 Dead NO power NO standby light won't turn on
Yes the 96 is VDC. I didn't move the Meter to another setting.
It seemed high to me. This was only when the cable from PB to MB was disconnected. There's actually 2 cables running from PB to MB.
I got another mainboard today but it was one letter off
BN94-12295K (original board) BN94-12295J - new board. The backlights started flashing and I think the standby light was flashing. The repair shop said it must be the MB but I'm not convinced. He wasted to solder a part from the J board to...
