Re: Matsonic MS7177C (ECS P6VXA) - does not work after replacing caps
@Rainbow
If the motherboard uses the "large can" (10mm wide) 470's and or 330's you might try changing them out too, Ive seen them bad frequently on motherboards and have taken to just replacing them automaticly now.

Re: Abit KT7A successful recapping
hehe... I use a cheap "ripoff shack" desoldering iron to remove and resolder the new caps in most cases. the only time I break out the real iron is if the space is too tight for the desoldering iron .. its a pretty good trick cuz the desoldering iron will hold solder in the suction hole in the center of the tip and as long as you are carefull when desoldering the varnish on the pcboard will keep you from oversoldering when you resolder the new caps .. of course I've been soldering since I was 6 years old...

Re: K7SEM missing caps...
@Snowflake
Don't panic about missing caps, Its not uncommon for a motherboard to be missing caps via the revision process before the first official build of the board. Its a good idea to compare it with a similar revision board though just to be sure!
I thought I had a couple k7sem's around here but it turns out that they are all k7s5a's so thats my only halfway usefull two cents, Chris1992 will have more info hopefully!

Re: Ti4800se 2 caps blew
the black caps as willawake mentioned are 470uf the fc series panasonics will replace that nicely as those are what ive been useing on the nforce4 boards Ive been doing.
the panasonic part number for the 10v 470 fc series is eeu-fc1a471 and its 8mm x 11.5mm so it will replace those nicely.
The green caps on your board are 6.3v 1000uf and panasonic makes a 10v 1000uf that is 8mm x 20mm eeu-fc1a102L and will replace yours nicely as long as you lay them down or dont plan on running a pci card in your first slot (you shouldnt be...

Re: Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200-8x 128meg
all the paired up ones are in parrallel too so i may just replace them with single 1000uf caps for the paired 470's and a 2200uf for the pair of 1000'sand test it out ..

Re: Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200-8x 128meg
yup they are all going to get replaced
the 470s that are paired up in the photo are the ones that seem to split, the other card has the other 470 split and one of the 1000's is bloating on the one in the photo. and your right they are radial lead not surface mount so they wont be too much trouble ..

Chaintech GeForce4 Ti4200-8x 128meg
Here's some more show and tell
I have some surpluss nvidia heatsinks so I already replaced the dead Chaintech HSF and i have a pair of these cards one serial number after the other both bad at the same two pair of caps.

yup those are the GSC caps, the entire board is done in GSC caps actually,
now that ive had a chance to look at this box of bad boards theres an msi board with decent rubycon's for the larger caps and a bunch of dead 1000uf g-luxon's. I can just imagine the board meeting where that decision was made, "ya lets just make this board half right"

I've been recapping boards for a local computer store and thought i would start shareing some photos of the more interesting boards, this one is only interesting cuz its a pretty new board (9-25-2003) and ive got two of them to recap.
