Only tings connected are Apple mouse and keyboard and ViewSonic display. All have been connected to G% with no issue in the past. Running 10.4.?

Have tried to get machine to boot from DVD. Will get chimes once and nothing. No image on monitor nothing. Will do nothing different until I unplug for a while and replug, then I can get back to the gray Apple with no spinner.

Am lost. thanks for the suggestions, please keel them coming.

Only difference with the psu is that the G5 would not turn on before I swapped and now I can get chimes and a gray screen with the apple logo, no spinner. I pulled and reseated all ram and swapped HDD with another one that I have. I can feel boh drived spinning
s and they both generate heat after a few min of operating. All fans are working. I tried to satrt from DVD with no luck. Nothing but chimes and no screen activity, same when I reset PRAM and try to start in safe mode.

OK I have tried everything that I can think of and the G5 will not go past the gray screen with the apple logo. No spinner and thats it. Chimes every time I start up but if I hold any key down to try a safe start I get chimes and a red led inside comes on and nothing else. No gray screen, nothing.I have to unplug the machine for a few minutes to get it back to where I get only gray screen and apple, Am I/it cooked? Any suggestions are welcomed and I am begging for enlightenment. Thanks for all the patience and suggestions. Wayne

I have a Aug 2004 G5 Tower. Push power button & nothing. Tried the little pmu and unplugging, no better. Phone tech's all say power supply likely gone. I have a power supply from a June 2004 G% tower that has one number different from mine, a gift from work IT guys I just had to remove it. Part # on Aug 2004 is 614 - 0307 and part number on the June 2004 is 614 - 0306. Both are 600 Watt. All voltages match on both labels but are in a different order. Manufacturer different. Will these interchange or am I running the risk of cooking the guts of my G5? Thanks for any input. Wayne
