• Re: Making a sort of Agree and Continue upon joining network...

I haven't tried it personally, but this is probably somewhere decent to start:

These are generally called wireless access servers, you could also use the keyword "hotspot" in your searching.

Edit: More info for configuring DD-WRT with Chillispot: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/ChillispotRe: Making a sort of Agree and Conti...ably somewhere

TeaKAPOW in this case. The game was in a bar. The person working the kitchen that day said she could hear the noise when it popped very clearly. The kitchen is easily 30 feet from the game, with a wall separating them.

Apparently, there was a person playing the game at the time... I can't imagine how it must have scared them! ...

Your study on a bit larger scale:

Interesting read, if a bit long. There are some good summaries of the study out there too, like http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/18/massive-google-hard-drive-survey-turns-up-very-interesting-thing/

Sadly Google took the high road and opted to not call drive manufacturers out by name (even though they saw a strong correlation of failure to manufacturer). I'd love to see if any of my suspicions from personal experiences with different manufacturers would be confirm...

  • Re: Biostar GeForce 6100-M7 - Need Help, No POST

Oh, thanks... I did see that thread at one point during my searches. Considering that thread, I'll probably venture forth and replace the rest of the caps, even the small ones. It'll give me something to do while waiting for the right nozzle to fit the GeForce chips for my SMT rework station....

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I know they are infamous for this, but was skeptical of the coincidence of it happening at the same time. I have the equipment for a reflow, and will give it a go.

(I'm not doubting you...) But if it's the BGA fiasco, I would imagine applying pressure to the chips should change the behavior, no? I've tried pushing (gently) on the north and south bridge while booting, and there has been no change in behavior....

  • Biostar GeForce 6100-M7 - Need Help, No POST

Long-time lurker here, I really love the site and have garnered tons of very useful information. I've run into an issue with a motherboard that I'd like to ask some assistance from the brains here on the forum.

Because I know you all like pictures, here's the board I'm working on:

First, some background knowledge. I have reviewed the No POST FAQ Sticky... https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4810

This board was working, was running in a full-sized Raw Thrills SuperBikes arcade game. We had an issue with a bad BIOS battery,...

  • DFI PS35-BL Motherboards

I have repaired three of these PS35-BL motherboards that were used in GlobalVR's Need for Speed arcade games.

One was having trouble turning on. Would pulse the fans, that was it. Replaced all of the caps and it's happy.

One was working, but everything ran REALLY slowly when it was stressed (3D graphics, full screen video). Recapping it fixed what ailed it.

The last, and most bizarre... Astoundingly worked PERFECTLY. However, upon inspection, I found a badly burned ATX connector and header...

The pins that are burnt are...

  • Badly blown cap on a Neotec 600DX-2 Monitor

Working on an arcade monitor, and stumbled across this badly blown cap. The circuit this cap is in is well known for chain-reaction catastrophe... however judging by the other swollen caps on the board this guy was hurting well before the explosion. There was a smaller cap nearby that had completely vaporized, leaving just a fluffy stringy mess and two leads sticking up from the board. There was foil confetti all over the board.

This picture is simply for the enjoyment of it, I regretably did not grab the name brand of this cap. I have a few more pictures on my camera that might...

Teapo, seems every one I encounter is in need of replacement.
