  • Re: 2018 Mac Mini with bad internal SSD "Possible to disable SSD?"

I have done that multiple times with multiple versions of macOS with the same results.
Even with a bootable USB install thumb drive it will not work.
I have been working with both macs & PCs for well over 30 years. It's been my self-employment business, owning a computer shop building machines going on the way back. It's too bad apple got rid of the target mode install starting with high Sierra due to the fact High Sierra introduced the new format and requires firmware updates, it would...

  • Re: 2018 Mac Mini with bad internal SSD "Possible to disable SSD?"

I have already erased the SSD which is in fact chips and controller on the logic board. I have erased it and left it uninitialized, I have formatted it fat 32, and every conceivable other format methods in hopes it would be ignored.
Not sure exactly where the issue is, but it definitely is missing its standard macOS base system volume, and that is not even created during the attempts of Internet restore recovery.
Since Apple has done away with target mode installs I can't use another device...

  • 2018 Mac Mini with bad internal SSD "Possible to disable SSD?"

    hello everyone,
I had a couple few 2018 Mac minis come in from a local church, the majority of them showed no life and it was no issue DFU and recover the ibridge software.

I have this last one that has been recovered, immediately goes to Internet recovery downloads and then reboots and goes right back to Internet recovery. OR there have been times it would reboot bring up Apple logo and the progress bar but it would never start populating that progress bar and we just hang there.

I have tried every conceivable method including trying to boot to an external macOS...

    THANK YOU SIR
That appears as it resolved issue, now I need to do some comparison to figure out what the heck I did wrong. I've unlocked many over the years I came from ghostlyhaks I've had a few of their clips use on a raspberry PI 3 over all these years.
It just appeared that there was an awful lot of data following that $SVS until the next zeroed out area of size.

Actual logic board model number appears to be on the other side of the board sandwiched under the keyboard.

I am attaching a locked bin
As well as my DIY unlock that is causing a bunch of issues....

No the laptop appeared to work just fine there is no liquid damage or anything like that. It would actually boot right into OS.

I've noticed it's even got a power on issue now it's intermittent trying to get it to power on just to do a read and write with MY diy unlocked bin, with these particular MacBook Pros I learned a while ago you're powered on until you hear the chime and then press and hold the power button and do your reading write at that time.

Like I said I check summed all the dumps to...

  • late 2013 13" Macbook pro firmware password HELP

I have done many of these over several years, But its been some time since the last time.

Normally I dump the rom 3-5 times and compare before anything else
Which I do have clean dumps, then I would search for $SVS and ff ff out every thing that follows that including the $SVS all the way down to the next large series of ff ff

Upon 1st boot I will zap pram a few times, Password IS GONE
yet the laptop is acting strange, powers off all of a sudden for no apparent reason.
Besides that, the trackpad clicker does not work in internet recovery and other odd...

  • imaging/backingup dual boot windows 10 and windows 11

I am looking for a method that actually works.
This would be a single drive with multiple partitions, like a 256GB split into two 128GB partition drives.
    I like to run both win10 & win11 on a single drive

Also best method/software to restore onto larger drives?

I have tried clonezilla, it always tends to lead to problems, only one of the two OS seem bootable, same results with windows backup.

Just looking for a means of retaining a dual boot setup without a bunch of hassles afterwords getting it to work again.

    Anyone have hints/ideas...

  • Re: Hp EliteBook G3 840 Power and CapLock lights Blinks but no power

Have you tried to disconnect both the main battery and the CMOS battery.
Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds.
    Then hook the attach batteries.
Try to power on, give it about a minute to see if it comes back.
If not, repeat above but this time remove ram prior to powering on
Listen for BEEPS, then power off & install ram again.

I have had many elitebooks respond to this method,
You can even try & leave the CMOS battery disconnected until...

    then it booted just fine.
Shut it down and hit the power button, within a second or two the lenovo splash came up

  • Lenovo P1 g1 Type 20MD-002PUS "BIOS Help Needed"

    Please I need help.

Quick rundown long story shorter, but still long winded.
I received this Lenovo P1 GEN 1 about a year ago from a business.

It was pretty much dead hit the power button and the LED on the power light would come on as would the keyboard back light a couple times and just shut off or go into high speed fan mode without life other than the power button led.

At that time it was still under warranty, I spoke to Lenovo and I was going to send it in to have them repair it.

Then late last fall my father-in-law suffered...
