Re: ASUS P8B WS fire on power up
Brand new case, top of the line Lian Li. It was carefully assembled and nothing was mangled. The steps when I turned it on were as follows: set the swith on the power supply to "Off". plug in both ends of the power cord. turn the switch on the ps to "On". (It comes up in the deep sleep state.) The mb has has two switchs, On/Off and Reset, on a G.P. Maintenance board. These two switchs function the same as the external switch. Re: ASUS P8B WS fire on power up
Sorry, no photos. Already shipped to supplier. I didn't even think about running it. No 'extra' standoffs. Exactly 9 in the right spots for an ATX. Apparently the mfgs checkout does NOT include a power on test.

Re: ASUS P8B WS fire on power up
My mb came with the standouts preinstalled for an ATX and when I put the mb in the case the matchup was perfect. The best I have ever seen.

ASUS P8B WS fire on power up
This is my first post so please be kind. New ASUS P8B WS mb. Since it will be a pretty basic system I just put it in the case and made all of the connections and turned on the power. Pop, a little tongue of flame, and a puff of smoke from one of the tiny caps on the bottom left of the board. Immediately shut down the power. I'm not sure it will run like this, but didn't want to make anything worse. Is this a common occurance? I've built ant least 25 systems and this is my first problem of the type. The mb is now in the RMA process. Please, thoughts from anybody.
