  • Re: Toshiba 37xv555d stuck in standby

tried all the other inputs and still nothing only the red standby light.
My son said it just went off while he was playing the game straight into standby but he thinks it made a noise like it does when you normally shut the tv off at the end of the night.
    Any ideas?
    cheers

  • Re: 42" lg plasma dead or is it?

I would like to thank you all for your help and the time taken to answer my posts.

I bought the new caps and my plasma is now working.
To say i had the tv given not working (they were throwing it out) it has only cost me £2.96 to repair and the picture is fantastic.

After i found this forum and then repaired my own Tv i thought about my mothers tv that packed up. She let the repair man keep it as he said it would cost the earth to repair, now i think maybe not.

    Anyway once again thanks and...

Forgot to ask.......... where i drew the line around my board in the image, would that be normal for the power to end there if the caps had blown as illustrated, (just for piece if mind)

  • Re: 42" lg plasma dead or is it?

Please bare with me while i explain the picture.
The area outlined in blue has power showing with a test pen ,
there is then a damaged cap just below where i have lined in red, there is now power any where else on the board. there is also 3 other caps that are perished again lined in red.
Would these stop the tv showing any signs of life , no lights sound, nothing.

I have spoke to maplins and told them the value of the 3 caps on the left 10v 3300uf they said they have 35v 2200uf and these would do!!! ...

  • 42" lg plasma dead or is it?

    Hi
I am no electrician and i need someones help please. I have an Lg 42 inch plasma that will not power up at all, no lights nothing.
I have taken the back off and on the power supply board there are at least 2 blown caps ( split on top slightly) and two with bulging tops.
I tried to follow where the board was live with a test pen nearly half of the board is live then it goes dead where one of the capasitors is located.
Would blown caps stop the tv showing any sign of life at all when plugged in?
I am going to go out and buy some replacements but do you guys...
