Re: Viewsonic VA1912W

    Hi PlainBill,

    1. All the electrolytics caps (except mains cap) were replaced. Unless ones hiding away.
    2. They were replaced with Ruby ZL's.
    3. Never thought about that. Of course. Just like what happens to the version used to light a room when they get old.

Here's a picture of the board pre recap

    Viewsonic VA1912W

Hi, After recapping my LCD and getting it working (All caps on the power/inverter board except the mains cap). I can't seem to get rid of the backlight flicker. The pictures fine so it must be the backlight. When its cold it flickers slightly and then eventually disappears. Looks like its more at the top half of the screen. After it has stopped if I turn it off then on, it flickers but not so noticeable.

Any idea's how to fix it?

    Thankyou

  • Re: Antec True Power Recap

Ok I will add esr and ripple to my table. It will help me find the right replacement caps.

Yep there site is not the best.

Well I was not planning on changing the big caps but after reading about how bad fu are and seeing another member with leaking ones, may as well change them now?

I will be pm'ing BP to get some prices.

I remember reading here somewhere about the trouble getting 10mm caps in the voltage that were in the psu.

  • Antec True Power Recap

Hello, I have a Antec True Power 430W PSU that is full of Fuhjyyu. All the caps including the 200v 470uF are this make.

Judging by what I have read on here is, to replace them all including the very small ones.

What would be a good replacement? Panny FC's, Ruby ZL's. I see some are just general purpose so what could I use instead say FC's or ZL's?

What would be a good replacement for the 200v 470uF.

    Hi all,

The places I have been looking at are rs components and Farnell. I now see why the panny FM (0.018 2,470) and KZG (0.012 2,800) are quite close.

I wouldn't buy them off ebay after reading on here about fake caps.

I think I get it now, I have been looking at the datasheets but could not find esr which I take it that is impedance?

Looks like it could be badcaps or Big Pope for the caps.

    Thankyou ...

OK, Would Nichicon PW be any good as a replacement of KZG? I want to try and avoid buying from outside of the UK. Since I would need to check what duty and or vat I would possibly have to pay.

    Thankyou...

I went through the pins and found the 5 and 12v the readings were 5v and 12.06v. Whats the next thing to look for?

The board that has the vga and dvi sockets?

Roughly where about to take the voltage measurements and what voltages should I expected? I have attached a photo of the pcb taken before the recap.

    Can poly caps dry out?

UPDATE: Success! Both are now working. Well the Viewsonic nearly is.

The problem I am getting with the Viewsonic is, it has a faint flicker. Then after about 20 seconds disappears. If I turn it off the on again it does it again. Haven't had it on for very long just in case it might damage it.

I thought it might have been a bad solder joint. So went over all my joints again and dodgy looking factory ones. Still the same. I thought I had cured it at one point, then to be faced with it again after screwing the pcb...

Ok, I thought I would check since I had a motherboard with Sanyo's that went and didn't have a new cap to compare them with.

Thanks for pointing that out. As pfrcom said I have another thread about it. Its getting annoying these bad caps. I would have been happy to pay a bit extra for the AN7 for quality caps.

    Thankyou...

I was thinking about doing that after reading about them on here, which didn't give me any faith in them. But thought I would check first.

Unless I was really stuck I wouldn't be wasting money buying more KZG. Where the rubycon is, its in a place where i think it would be hard to knock. One way it could of been knock is changing a jumper for I think keeping the power to usb ports when system is off. I could change it to be safe.

The caps I can get is Rubycon ZL and Panasonic FC/FM.

    Thankyou...

Hi, I am not 100% sure if the Sanyo WX 6.3v 1000uF caps have blown there plugs out a bit or if thats how they are.

Not sure if the picture is any good but the black plug is touching the pcb.

  • Abit AN7 Badcaps

Hi, I have a Abit AN7 with badcaps. I am not sure if I should do a full recap or just recap the bulging and the same make/series as the bulging ones or as well recap the 1000uf and above?

One beside IDE2 port (6.3v 3300uF KZG) and another beside floppy port (6.3v 2200uF KZG).

Not sure if its a badcap or its been knocked?

Ok, I might risk it and leave the big caps. Hopefully will have them both recapped before the end of the week.

I won't be surprised if I have to do another recap of something else. Having just noticed my main machine has the start of bad caps. bleep! and bleep! They do say it comes in 3's. Will be starting a new thread about it soon.

    Thankyou

  • Re: Hannspree Xm M19W1 and Viewsonic VA1912W

Ok, I can get the 2.2uf in Panasonic fc. The big caps are not cheap. They both look fine but getting the casing off the lcds was not easy due to all the clips. If I were to replace them will any good brand cap do? Or does it have to have the same spec's like the ruby zl?

    Thankyou

  • Hannspree Xm M19W1 and Viewsonic VA1912W

Hi, I have a Hannspree Xm M19W1 and Viewsonic VA1912W VS10866 with blown caps. Below is a table of the caps found in both.

I am going to replace them all except the ost with Rubycon ZL. Can't get 2.2uf in Rubycon ZL so what would be a suitable replacement?

Will Rubycon ZL's be fine for both lcds?
Is it right that the big cap found in each lcd does not need to be replaced if its not blown?

    Thankyou

Hello, Thankyou to Starfury1, Kikkoman, Gdement, Gonzo0815 and Severach for all your help!!

It now has all the speeds back! The motor at very low speeds has a bit of a funny noise (not sure if its normal) but disappear as you increase the speed. I think I can fix it.

    Re: Capacitor

Hello, No starfury1 it does not have a pre zeroing button.

I went to pick up the resistor and cap I ordered in from Maplin's warehouse to my local store and they sent the wrong cap.
I was not very pleased at having to make another trip when they get the right one in. So I managed to get them to send it through the post to me for free.

So it will be sometime next week before I start work on it.

I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

    Thankyou
