• Final update: new caps installed, monitor has been running 24 hours with no flickering at all.

    When I was looking around for info, I came across a few things. One: 32GK650 monitor seems to use 2 different boards. The older ones used EAX67626001 which is bigger but all the external ports are in the same place. It might not fit the metal house if it came with newer EAX69731901 board. Second: I noticed on the metal housing the stamped mark read 32GK850 which is I think similar except for RGB light on the back and G-Sync instead of FreeSync

  • Update: I removed 3 caps. C338 near LCD connector stank like a dead fish so I guess it was a defective cap about to pop. That one cap seems to be responsible for power filtering for LCD panel and might explain the flickering display.

    Already ordered new ones, probably a week.

  • LG 32GK650F-B random flicker

    I have this monitor that roughly every few minutes, the image would turn solid black for a frame or 2. It is infrequent but annoying and I'd like to stop it somehow. I have tried: swapping power supplies, different video cable, all 3 video inputs on the monitor, and 3 different computers. Since the symptoms doesn't change, the issue is likely with the monitor;

    Monitor has EAX69731901 board with video and power input, menu control joystick, LCD output and backlight output: https://i.imgur.com/OkrBoi1.jpeg

    I couldn't find any info on repairing this monitor...

  • Re: Macintosh Quadraa 630 dead power supply

    Macintosh Quadra 630 came out 1994 so under 30 years. Either Dyna Corp used old stock or those caps were still used in mid 90s.

    Should I replace those or leave it? And what about the big one? It seems to be glued on but it seems to be only on AC mains, likely after bridge rectifier so it probably operated at 120Hz to smooth out the mains AC wave.

  • Macintosh Quadraa 630 dead power supply

    Apple part 614-0037. I got this recently very cheap and it doesn't power up at all. The motherboard was checked with a known good power supply, it worked so this one needs a recap.

    Top cover with the label. There's rust but it seems to be on the outside only, no rust inside or on the PCB

    The board after I took it out of the case. The 110v mains unplugged from this board, unlike Antec which soldered the AC wires into the PCB.

    I did Google for info but I ran into a problem: all the info I could find on recapping similar power supply, those were...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    New user here. Have fixed numerous devices with bad caps, mostly Sega Game Gear and NRC Turboexpress or PC Engine GT. Most recently saved a big 19" 1600x1200 LCD display.

    Later when I'm awake I got a new one needing repair but it's hard to find information.

    Anyway a hello from new member!
