I've been into radio, audio and electronics ever since I was a pre-teenager. That was many years ago and now I'm retired, but I still reach for my toolbox whenever anything breaks.

The growth of these products and the push for a low price-point coincided with use of cheapo caps. My first post (so please be gentle)
The background : I'm familiar with the badcap issue for set-top boxes and have fixed several, but this is the first motherboard problem I've noticed (there could have been others !)
I have an EVB ESR meter and, just like tbs, low voltage high value caps are off my chart. So, as Scenic suggested, I now have Rubycon MBZ datasheet...
I interpolate a 6.3V 1000μF having around 30mΩ is considered good.
The problem : Old PC glitched a couple of times which...
