Re: Thinkpad X1 carbon gen 3 with AdminPW
Hello Gayyum786,
thank you for quick reply. I've read the thread about auto-patcher. But there are some details missing (from my starter view). So programmer should arrive these days. Then I read out my EEPROM. Location is known.
The EEPROM must not be soldered out, right?
If the dump has been saved successfully. How to proceed with the .rom file, posted in the auto-patcher thread?
I thought, that I only had to "something magic happens" the ".rom" file via "updater"...
Thank you to the guys at HEGE supporting Badcaps [ HEGE ] [ HEGE DEX Chart ]

Thinkpad X1 carbon gen 3 with AdminPW
Hello @all, after trying to search the forum for hours, I'm finished.
Next I'll slash-hammer the Thinkpad.
The patient: Thinkpad X1 carbon gen 3 with AdminPW
To stay save, HOW TO DUMP/BACKUP current BIOS? Is it necessary to Backup, generally? IF I brick it, I have to download BIOS from Lenovo and reprogramm the EEPROM, anyway?
So, to keep it simple ... how to write the ROM to the Laptop?
Soldering and external electronics, or the software way?
The autopatcher seems to work with other files ...
Kind regards, Mark
