Hi! I've had a laptop dropped off to me to take a look at. The issue stemmed from another IT repair shop replacing the display and now the laptop does not power on.
To cut a long story short, a lot of components on the 3.3v rail are getting burning hot and the laptop does not power on. I've identified some of the IC's but I'm unsure what could be causing the issue. I believe there to be a short somewhere leading to excess current, causing the heat but that's just a guess.
I've read through the schematics but they're not very helpful, as they don't tend to show any...

Re: Asus E403 no Wifi after repairing battery connector.
Thank you for your reply.
I'll attach an image of the area around the PCI-e connector as well as the the board numbers.
If you're wondering what all of the black stuff is on the board, the battery connector had to be glued back down with B-7000 glue as the pads to hold the connector to the board were completely ripped and missing.
I hope these photos are ok....

Asus E403 no Wifi after repairing battery connector.
Hi! I recently repaired the battery connector on an Asus E403 after the previous person had completely destroyed the connector along with the traces.
The laptop now works perfectly on battery power, but for some reason, wifi does not work at all. Windows and Ubuntu do not detect any wifi card in the system, even after trying a few different wifi cards and installing all the neccesary drivers.
I did notice that Ubuntu and Windows do detect a bluetooth card in the system when I reconnect the network card, but the wifi side of things is completely missing.

RTX 3090 Fans will not spin.
Hi All.
I have an RTX 3090 founders edition that was dropped off for repair.
One of the fans ribbon cables had been ripped and needed repairing and the card did not work according to the customer. I couldn't find a replacement cable anywhere, as this card uses a flat ribbon cable instead of a standard cable that you would find on the majority of other cards, so I had to run some jumper wires on the flex.
I repaired the cable and tested for continuity and all seemed to be working fine.
I tested the card in my system and the card...

HP Pavilion x360 Convertible - Identify shorted Power IC
I've been working on a HP Pavilion x360 convertible that is showing no signs of life; It was brought to me by an IT repair shop as they do not work on motherboards.
The first component on the board I replaced was the KB9028Q Power Management Chip. The chip was getting very warm as soon as power was connected to the board, but it seems fine now after replacement.
I've now identified another chip on the board that is getting very hot, but I cannot seem to find any information about the chip anywhere. The chip has the name "BABARB" but no other information....
