  • Re: 70" LG TV Backlight turns off (new inquiry)

Thank you for the information. I turned down the backlight to 50% for all inputs and I'm just using my fire stick. This nightmare is finally over, I've been dealing with this tv since April 13th. I think I'm going to take a break from fixing tvs, haha

Update: I changed the backlights for the used ones I bought... seems to work so far, just gonna cross my fingers it lasts.
Does anybody have any information as to reasons why LED arrays may fail in the first place? The root cause?

And no, unfortunately the LEDs I bought were from a broken TV (cracked screen) of the same model. I haven't replaced the LEDs with the ones I bought yet, I just wanted to troubleshoot and see if maybe it was the boards that were causing the issue before moving to replacing the lights.

Yeah, when the backlights turn off the voltage at the connector is 0, but that could be because most likely the LED driver is cutting the power to the LEDs to prevent further damage since it detected a problem with the LEDs or possibly it is malfunctioning?

Yeah, the thing is that for my TV the backlights turn off at random, there is no pattern. Sometimes they turn off within a minute, other times they'll turn off after 10mins or more. One time they kept turning off after 1min, and after about 8 times turning it on they stayed on for 8mins and then turned off again. And it's also random if I have the backlights at low level. Nothing I do can give me an indication of exactly what could be wrong. Do any of you happen to know exactly where is the section that controls the LEDs is? It...

And after you replaced those backlights the TV worked?

By the way, I have done regular resets before as well (unplugging, pressing the power button for a while, leaving it disconnected for days, plugging it back in and turning it on) but I still had the same issue. With this main board reset button is the first time I see it last.

  • 70" LG TV Backlight turns off (new inquiry)

I made a post regarding my 70" LG TV a few weeks ago, I'm making a new post because I have a side inquiry. The following is from the original post:

    "I have a 70" LG 4k TV. The model is 70UH6350-UB.BUSMLJR
I got it from someone who said it started to turn off on its own. When I got it, it worked fine for around 3 hours, then the backlight went out. You can still hear the sound and I did the flashlight test on the display and it was still working as well, so it was evident that the backlights went out.
I thought it would be a bad LED, so I successfully...

  • Re: Removing large LCD panels

I recently got some suction cups that are meant for lifting TV panels and the first 2 TVs I used them on they worked perfect, although I did feel that the suction appeared to be very strong. Nonetheless, since it worked I used them on the next TV. Worked fine, but when I finished fixing the backlights and picked up the panel, there was a slight crack sound. I inspected the TV and saw nothing, so I continued assembling it. When I turned it on, sure enough one of the suction cups cracked a circle on the panel... maybe the suction is too strong, maybe...

  • 65" W Box TV half backlight problem

I have a 65" W Box TV, model 0E-65LED4K that most of the times it is turned on, the right half of the backlights flash on and off in a split second and remain off while the other half lights up and stays on just fine. I thought it would be the LEDs, so I checked all of them and they're all good, no direct problem with any of the LEDs or any of the connections. One thing I noticed was that when I disconnected one of the LED strips from the left side (the working side) the backlights now switched and the half left side flashed and stayed off while the right side lit up and stayed on. I then...

  • Re: 70" LG TV Backlight turns off

Yes, I actually found one that looks blown, I added a picture of it. I bought the new 103 SMD chip resistor and I'm going to replace it. Hopefully that's the only thing I need to replace...

  • Re: 70" LG TV Backlight turns off

Now I'm trying to see if I can fix the power supply board that I messed up. So I used the LED tester on the LED connections while all the wires were connected and the tv was connected to the outlet. I heard a noise when I put in the LED tester pins on two of the pins from the LED wires. The power supply stopped transferring power. What do you think I may have fried? What would I have to replace, what can I check?

  • Re: 70" LG TV Backlight turns off

I just turned the backlights down to 0 and the backlights turned off within a few minutes. I turned the tv off, then on again and the backlights turned off within 20 seconds, then within 10 seconds the next 2 times. I left it off for a few minutes, turned it back on and they stayed on for about 8 minutes and just turned off again. I tried again and it lasted for 2 minutes.
I would just replace the backlights to try, but NO ONE is selling these backlights :/
Also, I would replace the singular bad LEDs if I could find them, but...

I thought it would be a bad LED, so I successfully opened up the TV, got the LEDs, tested one by one with an LED tester, and they all work just fine, there was nothing wrong with them, all showed the same voltage. So I cleaned...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello, my name's Bruno. A few months ago I wanted a bigger and newer TV, so I thought about getting a non-functioning TV and trying to fix it so it can be more economical, and also for the fun of fixing things. I enjoyed it, so I've continued to fix TVs. I've been able to fix a few, but have destroyed most, unfortunately. I have no experience in any of this stuff, but I have learned quite a lot. I've stumbled upon this website that I believe will help me on my journey to raise my fixed to destroyed ratio.
