    I figured out my problem.



    During the first-boot-after-flashing-patch procedure, I didn't type anything in - I just hit 'enter' reflexively.

    That was dumb.

    Running through the process one more time, but actually entering a single character when prompted for a supervisor password, did the trick.

    Whew!

    Thanks again. Hopefully my experience can save someone else some frustration.

    I've been working on a recycling-pile X1 Carbon Gen 2 with a power-on password and supervisor password and this thread has been a lifesaver. Big thank yous to Knucklegrumble, Maxpower3, SMDFlea and everyone else that's been helpful here.

    I was able to patch the ROM I dumped just fine with the script.

    The hard part was programming the ROM in-circuit, since my usual go-to tool (a Bus Pirate V3.1) didn't have enough juice to do the job, although it was able to read data out of it just fine. A 3.3v...

    Hi!

    Finally registered for an account after yet another Google search led me to a discussion here that helped with a project. I've got more projects in my future (restoring my old Abit BP6 dual Celeron to its former glory, for instance) that may be of interest to folks around here too.

    This was the post BTW, thanks to everyone that posted in there for helping me with some troubleshooting/recapping of a similar unit to fix a different set of issues.
