Re: SMD inverter/coil
Hi I've had a look at the link, I think he eventually just soldered two fuses in place, I've found these inductors and they are the closest I can find just with a higher max amperage 5 amps instead of 4.2 amps and the DC resistance is a bit different, I think these will be okay, what do you think? Thanks.

Re: SMD inverter/coil
Hi, I'd rather replace it if possible, I've found the part number its HU-1M2012-121JT can anyone recommend a good place to get components from?
Cheers

Re: SMD inverter/coil
Hi the coil failed and went open circuit, the one next to it is okay, there is normally two next to eachother but in my picture the failed one has been removed, I just need to find a replacement for the failed one .... cheers.Last edited by Superglue; 04-04-2021, 10:35 AM.

SMD inverter/coil
Hi, I need to replace a smd coil/ inverter on my Samsung laptop motherboard but I cant find any information on the schematic diagram for it, it just shows a curly wire symbol without any identification, they are small black rectangles with silver ends, they sit directly after the DC jack so 19/20v and when I check the resistance on the good one it measures a very low ohm reading just like you would get from measuring a small piece of wire, I'm not sure if they are used as a kind of fuse? I need to order one but I'm completely lost to what type and where to get one from, cheers....

Re: Laptop not turning on with power supply
If by accident I found the problem, I checked the board again going over the continuity of the coils but I forgot to disconnect the power supply so when I probed the one coil it sparked as it made contact with the solder pad it's supposed to be soldered to, I've reflowed both coils adding a tiny bit of solder now it works!!
Thanks again for the help

Re: Laptop not turning on with power supply
Hi, thanks for the reply, I have tested continuity of the two coils and they have continuity in diode/continuity mode of my multimeter of around .002 ohms, should I see 19v in and out of these coils ? I will post a pic of the schematic diagram, thanks...

Laptop not turning on with power supply
Hi, I have repaired the DC charging jack on my daughter's Samsung Np3530EC laptop, the laptop doesn't turn on with the charger and no LED'S light up, if I put in a charged battery from my other identical laptop it will power up and turn on, so it only switches on with the battery not the power supply which I can confirm 100%works. I have tested the motherboard power and I have 19volts on the board at the DC jack, so I know the charger and DC port are okay.I have checked the schematic diagram for the laptop and immediately after the DC jack are two smd components which seem to link one track on...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I am located in the UK, I'm a serial tinkerer that likes to repair anything I can including electronics, my limited knowledge on PCBs can be frustrating but perseverance usually works.......ready the fire extinguisher!!!!
Cheers 😊
