Hello all

Me? ... I'm an old telephone tech used to live in the UK now in the US studied tube theory in college and yup had a commadore 64 - got me through grad school

Worked in communications and electronics got A+ cert - teach high school and dabble at home fixing peoples computers

Had a monitor given - found this site and with your help fixed a nice Westinghouse 17" monitor

Same monitor same problem - bought and installed a repair kit with caps and chips from an online store - did not fix the problem

Thought what the he** the monitor doesn't work anyway - took it apart just as you described found a broke wire - resolderd worked great

Thanks again for all the info and a detailed descripion helped me save a good monitor from the recycle bin
