Re: Did Bestec kill my MB?



Think I have read most of the Bestec PSU posts. Have a couple of questions and would appreciate any insights.
What are the components on the motherboard the Bestec supplies fry?

Have a Bestec ATX-300-12EB3 Rev: S2. It has the A6351 pwm chip yet still has fried two D915 Intel MBs. The second question is even with the A6351 pwm chip but WITH a few bulging caps will this unit still kill MBs? Also, even with the few slightly bulging caps it will boot the MB and run normally w/o errors but then kills the MB.

Problem was master inverter board. Symptoms were the first screen (type of connection) would blink on for 3-8 seconds then go to a black screen. Could not get past the initial screen so could not use sound as a symptom.

The Db9897FS IC was bad on the master inverter. Purchased new boards from China. They both worked as did the old slave inverter. The Db9897FS chip was bad on the master inverter. This was verified through a series of tests including comparing readings to the new working to the old...

Slave Inverter, both transformers: P1 to gnd = 2M ohm, P2 to gnd = 2M ohm
Master Inverter, both transformers: P1 to gnd = 40 ohm, P2 to gnd = 40 ohm

Yes, backlights. Picture is normal for a few seconds. Has the symptoms I have seen numerous times with bad caps in the PS but they look and test fine with ESR meter....

Yes. First post. Symptoms are power on, sound, then power off by itself within a few seconds....

Hi. Are these readings taken in circuit or out? In circuit I am reading the 8.5K on all mosfets pins 2-3 but megohms on all the other measurements (1-2 and 1-3)....
