  • PS4 Slim CUH-2016B no power, no standby light, dead PSU

Hey folks! First of all thanks for helping me with TV repairs a couple years ago.

I got a Slim PS4 for 26€ that had no water damage and has never been opened. It won't turn on and doesn't display status light.

PSU gives out near 0V on 5V rail and 0,08V on 12V rail (I shorted the two pins to turn it on).

I may need to get a new multimeter since mine is not working all that well.

I saw videos of mosfet replacements, but I want to detect the problem first before attempting anything else. I do easier stuff like Game Boy repairs, but I have...

  • Re: Sony EX-2N chassis flash problem, Sony bulletin 12TV026.

I found a KDL-37P3600 that has image problems (the screen looks pixelated). Could this also be fixed by software? A YouTuber shows that by entering the maintenance menu you could switch to a different image source, but I think it will need a new TCON.

No, I just touched the ends. I think this cheaper model can't test components on PCBs, so you have to unsolder them. It's a LCR-T4 tester so I guess it can also test mosfets....

  • Re: Samsung LE37B530P7W 37" dead power supply

I know it's been a while, but I was trying to source a new power supply. Without a schematic, I can't identify the components that were damaged by the generic fuses. I now have a capacitor tester that can also detect other components, and one of the diodes identifies as a resistor, must be broken, but again no schematic = no repair. Any other ideas?

  • Re: Brimax T2030R 20" TV, standby LED on but can't turn on

I bought a new 5A adapter and the TV works. At least I can sell it to cover up the initial cost of the two TVs. Thanks got your help!...

  • Brimax T2030R 20" TV, standby LED on but can't turn on

I've started fixing this second TV I got in a lot with the big 37" Samsung (I've opened another thread).

It's a small 20" TV with an external 12V 4,16A power adapter. The back of the TV says 12V 5A. Also "made in EU".

Here's what it does: standby LED turns on when the adapter is plugged, but when I turn it on, it flashes the tellow LED and goes back to red. The backlight and image on TV is flashing when this happens, but the image is very dim.

I've checked voltage during this process by touching the TV PCB near the DC socket with...

  • Re: Samsung LE37B530P7W 37" dead power supply

@R_J I'll look into it. Thanks.

@neilc6 That is a great idea. I'll see if the fuses are grounded.

@nomoresonys You mean connecting a incandescent bulb in series with the TV? My dad suggested doing that on my previous fix. I need to find one for sale. At lest 60W. They're difficult to find here in town since everything is LED now.

Thanks for your help gents/ladies! I'm afraid other components may be damaged, because of those dark marks on the PCB. The huge caps seem to work, but I can't measure...

Thank you! I reviewed this same document and I can't find the components. They have different codes to the ones I have on my psu.

I've uploaded some pictures. Note that one component is completely melted, while others have a darker pcb area around the leg. Thank you for your help!...

  • Samsung LE37B530P7W 37" dead power supply

I found a 22" LG TV in the garbage two weeks ago and fixed it by replacing dry caps. I got excited and decided to fix other TVs. It's difficult to source broken tech for free around here, so I bought a 37" Samsung next. The seller was nice enough to include another smaller broken TV and delivered them to my home.

The small TV has an external power supply and can't turn on (light goes from red to yellow for a second, then back to red), but my biggest issue is with the big TV:

I opened it up and turns out it was already opened. There were 2 fuses installed,...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi everyone! I'm Dimitry, a 32 year old gentleman from Spain. My dad is an electric engineer and I have always been surrounded with electronics until eventually learning how to solder. I have an obsession with anything electronic and I sometimes scavage things from the trash. The past 10 years I've been modding Game Boys and I love it. I also got into Arduino and my biggest dream is to develop an interactive toy.

A week ago I picked up a TV from the trash and repaired it. Seeing my potential, I got 2 more broken...
