Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
Does this mean that both ysus and zsus are bad?

Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
I tested again both with having the leads right on the test point when the tv is turned on and after it is turned on. in both cases the reading started off at or around 0 then slowly ramped up to about 1....

Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
Heres what I found
With and without the buffers plugged in to the y-sus the control board led does the same thing. 3 fast blinks and 1 slow blink....

I did a quick test, DID NOT PLUG the buffers back into the y-sus.
The led on the control board did 3 quick flashes, and one slow flash

Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
Ok unplugged the buffers from y-sus and measured again
VA 52 label says should be 55
VS 201 label says should be 201
VY bounced all around when first turned on. anywhere from -5 to -65, after being on for about 2 mins did another reading and read 0. label says should be -178
VSC same thing as VY bounced all around when first turned on. reading after 2 mins read 0. label says should be 150
z bias when first turned on slowly ramped up to about 1 but then dropped back to...

Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
I examined the bottom side of the z sus board and noticed this solder joint looked like its shorted to another trace on the board, but wanted to post it to ask if thats what it looks like. Its the area where there are 3 larger solder joints in 2 rows, these 6 large joints below to the large inductor coils. It looks to me like one of the middle joints has shorted. Am i looking at this correctly?...Last edited by eliteconcept; 07-10-2015, 09:51 PM.

Re: LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
Thanks for the info.
Here is what i got from my readings
VA 52 label says should be 55
VS 201 label says should be 201
VY -64.5 label says should be -178
VSC 0 label says should be 150
z bias 0 label says should be 110
So would this be indicative of bad power supply or bad Z and Y sus boards?

LG 60" 60pv250 sound but no picture
Start off by saying, I will post pictures of the boards later today for better support.
TV will power on, i can hear sound, but no picture on screen.
In a dark room it doesn't appear there is any light on the screen at all.
Does not appear to have any obvious damage on any of the boards on first inspection.
After some searching seems like it might be a Y Sustain board issue? I tested the VS voltage to the Y Sus board and got 201 v seems like other posts asked for VS readings. But really don't know how to further troubleshoot this. Looking for some guidance...

Re: magnavox 47mf437b power supply
thanks for the dgtech. I opted to buy a power supply instead of trying to fix this one. I could go around and around trying to troubleshoot this one. I figure even at $150 for repair its a steal if it works with a new power supply, I have a newborn and have neither the time nor patience to nit pick the old PS unit.
Is there much of a chance of blowing the new power supply if any other components in the set are bad? If it doesn't work at all thats fine I'm just going to send the PS back but I def don't want to blow a new power s...

Re: magnavox 47mf437b power supply
Thanks for your reply. My friend and I discussed the possiblity of changing out the transistor, but since we don't know the history of the tv set we figured it might be best to just look for a new power supply for a decent price.
I'm not out anything if I throw the set away but $5 in caps, and a bit of time. If I can repair a 47 inch 1080p tv for =< $100, I think its worth it. Esp since the tv is only about 3 years old.
Any thoughts on shopjimmy or recommendations on other places I might find this power supply?

magnavox 47mf437b power supply
Hi folks new comer here.
I recently picked up a magnavox 47mf437b that was left out for the trash near my house. Brought it home plugged her in and alas no power. I took it apart and found 3 bad caps on the scaler board and 1 bad cap on the power supply. I work in IT and am very fimiliar with bad caps and my co-worker has done lots of replacing caps. I had him switch out the caps on the power supply and the scaler board. After he did the power supply he plugged it in to see what would happened and it ended up blowing a transistor, the power supply was not connected to the other...Last edited by eliteconcept; 04-06-2011, 08:05 PM.
