  • It looks like it worked! I could update the BIOS to the newest version from Dell without struggling like before! Many thanks for your support! Is there anything I have to consider?!?

  • Hi, I'm Daniel and I'm buying old professional machines from time to time for my private stuff. I started with a HP 1040 G1 (2015) and now I pimp an old Dell 7480 (2018 or 2019, don't know for sure). Sometimes I need professional support, that's why I'm here!

  • My service tag seems to be DGSKJR2 and the BIOS is here.

I bought the computer from a company for a couple of pennies and I guess it is my personal bad luck that there's a password on the BIOS. Nobody remembers, of course...

    Best regards...

  • Hi all,

I've got an 7480 with BIOS password that I can't get. Now I read the BIOS chip with my CH341A progger but I don't find anything like the HP unlock tool to unlock the BIOS. Is there anybody out there who can free my 16MB bin-file from the PW?

    Best regards...

Thank You for Your answer and the YouTube-link. I‘m afraid I understand what to do, but I‘m really scared of doing it. I ordered a programmer but I took one with a clamp. I hope this works without any soldering. On the other hand I recognized that there‘re two BIOS chips on the board. Am I right that it‘s mandatory to backup both? Furthermore I found a program called „HPunlocker“ or so. Do You recommend to use it? Best Regards, Daniel

Hello, I have the same problem with my "new" bought HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G1. Everything works fine with a new SSD, you can change boot order by F9 but when pressing F10 during the boot process the machine wants to have a BIOS PW. I bought the PC from private contact but the BIOS PW is inknown. The former user doesn't even know that there's a PW installed. I've been in contact with HP for a SMC-file but the support war aborted due to data protection issues. I also tried many manuals I found on google searches (unplug...
