Is the cmos battery ok? I had a fully depleted one on an E490 and it got also stuck. Try without the CMOS battery -

I flashed the content from a L480. Charging function is back and it goes from 5V to 20V. Still not fully functional. So still looking for 25Q80 content from a NM-C791 motherboard...Leave a comment:

The resistor will be on the red marked one and act as PULL UP resistor. You need to move it from red position to yellow to make it PULL DOWN.

This resistor needs to be moved from red to yellow position.
If you cannot read after that, chip is locked. Just write extracted dump from bios update and it will be ok...Leave a comment:

Finally solved this issue.
PWRSW is going to EC and from there it is output on another pin as PWRSW_EC. This was not coming out of the EC. Replacing EC is difficult because of glue. Used a jumper wire between PWRSW and PWRSW_EC. Power button works as expected now.Leave a comment:

It's not related to CPU Generation.
T590 is 9th generation of ThinkPad. Autopatcher just works until 8th Gen T580,T480,X280...
For T590 you need Vertyanov or SVOD to remove password from MEC chip...Leave a comment:

Maybe somebody has an idea.
Got this T480s in this conditions.
It will power up, if internal battery and CMOS battery are disconnected.
Plugin in a power supply will make the unit start.
There is no reaction to the power button at all. The button board has been replaced. Same behaviour.
Assumed a bad EC flash and reflashed a clean update from a BIOS update via Vertyanov. Bios flash is also fine.
The PWRSWITCH line has 3.3V level which gets pulled down when the button is pressed. -

Upload your reading. It can be rebuild so Ethernet MAC stays the same, if GBe region is part of your readout.
