Hi! Guys,
I recently have a problem with my Vintage Aiwa Hi-Fi system, that consists several components, namely the amplifier with built-in graphic equalizer, CD player, cassette deck and tuner.
I recently noticed that the audio output from the amplifier (Aiwa MX-Z95M) only works when the input is switched to "TAPE". Switching to other inputs resulted in no audio, even though the CD player or tuner is running. Strangely enough, I also noticed that if I change the input from TAPE to CD (or other) inputs, while cassette is still playing, the audio output...

replace all the brown and green caps on the power board. both of these brands are known to give problems.

Re: Intermittent zapping sound
Hi!
Yesterday i received my new PSU. After installation, i go to the bios and check the voltages. This time the all the voltages are within normal limits. The 3.3V rail now registers as 3.2676V stable.
I fired up the intensive fps games and everything goes as smoothly as b4. Whole system is extremely rock stable as b4. Now that the new PSU is much quieter probably due to the new 135mm ball-bearing fan. No more zapping sound now.

Re: Intermittent zapping sound
Thanks 370forlife. It already ordered the new PSU from silverstone. Also the same model but this new one is quite different from the current ST60F i am currently using.
This is the specs of the new PSU:

Re: Intermittent zapping sound
Ok. 370forlife, I already used my multimeter to probe the 3.3V rail. I read only 3.03V. The 5V rail read 5.12V and the 12V rail read 12.18V.

Re: Intermittent zapping sound
Thanks for your reply KeriJane.
I happened to get into the bios to check the voltage. To my dismay, the voltage from the 3.3V flunctuates between only 2.9V to 3V, which is already out of the specs. the 5V and 12V rails is still withing the 5% tolerance specs. The 3.3V may be the cause of the zapping sound from the PSU.
Anyway, I have already stop using the media center pc until my new PSU arrives, in fear that it will damage my expensive components. I have ordered a new version of the ST60F from silverstone. The new version...

Intermittent zapping sound
Hi!
I am currently using the silverstone st60f 600W (Enhance made) in my media center pc. It is emitting an annoying some sort of zapping sound from the psu that last for around 5 to 10 seconds. After that the noise would stop for quite sometime before it happen again. It doesn't matter whether the pc is running any intensive tasks or not. The noise just come and go anytime, even when the pc is in standby mode. Therefore it is definitely not the fan problem.
The funny thing is even when it running intensive tasks like fps gaming even at close to full settings, the...

Re: TAICON Capacitors?
oic. but somehow i am still a little worried about my current biostar socket 478 board. it is armed with HMs and KZGs on the VRMs. the rest of the board is armed with OST RLPs and the super-small RLGs without vents. 2 chemicon polymers are located near the AGP slot though.
currently using at silverstone ST400 psu, with 2x 12cm fans, 1 intake and 1 exhaust. the psu fan (also 12cm) also act as exhaust fan. cpu is a pentium 4 2.8GHz northwood.
not sure how long this system can last. but so far still so good.

Re: TAICON Capacitors?
i have came across certain threads that nichicon has already resolved the problem on the newer HMs, but not the HNs.

samxon GE caps
hi! i just received a new P4 S478 mobo. it has 2 Rubycon MBZ series on the VRM input, one whole row of 6 Samxon GE 2200uF 6.3V on the VRM output. the rest of the board is populated wif Samxon GF 470uF 16V at the DIMM slots, AGP slot and the ATX connectors. the smaller ones w/o vents are of United, 100uF 25V. does the Samxon GE caps good or not since they are nt discussed in tis forum?

Re: Are Su'scon caps still bad?
my previous antec psu died on me after about 2 years of usage due to leaking fuhjyuu caps. if su'scon caps is really of questionable quality, will it still affect the lifespan of my new silverstone psu? to me, i want reliability and durability. fuhjyuu vs. su'scon, which can hold up better in psu environment?

Re: Bad Rubycon caps in HP D530 SFF Motherboard
the teapos are the green colored caps at the VRM input and VRM output surroundings. just take a closer look at the green colored ones....

Re: Bad Rubycon caps in HP D530 SFF Motherboard
there are quite a number of cases whereby there are premium grade caps failure due to a number of reasons:
1. overheating within the chassis. notice that only the VRM sections of your motherboard is affected. this area is always subjected to high heat due to the CPU and the mosfets.
2. motherboard design flaw, that causes excessive ripples to the capacitors, causing to fail prematurely.
3. faulty psu. a faulty psu can create excess ripples as well, take a big toll on the motherboard caps as well....

Re: Bad Rubycon caps in HP D530 SFF Motherboard
is the PC well-vendilated with intake and exhaust fans within the chassis? if not, heat can easily built-up within, causing the internal temperature to rise. heat is the number one killer for capacitors and all other components in the PC, even if it is of the premium grade.Last edited by leekh; 06-09-2007, 10:18 PM.

Re: Are Su'scon caps still bad?
thanks for your reply. looks like i don't have to worry about my new enhance-built PSU. cos this PSU is very heavy at 3kg....Last edited by leekh; 06-03-2007, 09:43 PM.

Re: Are Su'scon caps still bad?
thanks maxxarcade for your reply.
does that mean if the PSU is equipped with a high-speed thermal controlled 120mm fan, the caps with last?
i need to confirm cos i just realised that my new silverstone 750W PSU has teapos and su'scons in it.

Are Su'scon caps still bad?
I am starting to see su'scon caps used in high end power supplies on the secondary side. though they are known to be bad, are they still bad now as quite a few reputatable manufacturers such as enhance are using them together with teapo caps?

Re: Are Nichicon HM's still bad?
I have checked on the 3 Nichicon HM(N) caps on the motherboard, they are all rated 470uF/16V. Will these caps be ok in the long-term? I have spend quite a bit on this ultra high-end motherboard.
someone please enlighten me. thanks in advance.
