Re: What is causing new TV T-CON board to fail?
Thank you, I will read more about EMI!
I've never soldered before, but a friend could help me with that.
As for the metal shield, is one type of metal better than others? Would galvanized steel work?...

Re: What is causing new TV T-CON board to fail?
Ugh, that's not a good news!
Does using the tape cut off method fully fix the image for you (e.g. like a brand new TV)? In my case, black horizontal lines show up every two seconds on the left side of the screen. This side also darkens a little when the lines show up.
I attached two close up images of the screen with the same background. The first one was when the image appeared correctly. The second was taken two seconds after when black lines appeared....

Re: What is causing new TV T-CON board to fail?
Yes, I tried the tape cut off method back in January. The result isn't ideal, but it's better than having no TV haha!
So you believe the panel is what damaged the two T-CON boards? The issue is related to the same two clock pins on the brand new board, it can't be a coincidence....

What is causing new TV T-CON board to fail?
Hi,
I sought your knowledge to help me fix my TV in January and you were all very helpful. I hope someone can help me again!
You can read the whole story about my TV here, but to summarize: my Toshiba FireTV started flickering every two seconds in early January. The general consensus was that the T-CON board was faulty, so I got a brand new one with new ribbon cables. Thankfully, this solved the issue! However, six weeks later it started...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
Final update: I fixed the TV!
For anyone who may stumble on this thread in the future while experiencing the same issue, here's what I did to fix my Toshiba FireTV.
Watching this tutorial from FrugalRepair was very helpful to temporarily*improve the jumping image.
As I followed his steps, I unplugged one ribbon cable at the time from the T-CON board*to figure out if these components could be at fault. The image was still...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
Another daily update:
After trying different combinations of blocked and free pins, the best results are when pins 1 and 2 are blocked while the remaining others are free. The whole screen no longer jumps or creates ghost images with this method.
However, it creates black horizontal lines every two seconds, which slightly darkens the screen at the same time. The issue is also more prominent on the left side (the same side with the faulty ribbon cable), while it's barely visible on the right...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
Here's my daily update:
I think I'm slowly getting closer to a solution. It looks like the clock pins are the first 8 on the left side of the ribbon cable, because blocking the 8 on the right side turns the whole screen black.
Blocking all 8 pins with tape prevents the whole image from jumping, however it creates black horizontal lines that quickly move around. This new issue doesn't really show up when I record it, so I photographed it instead and attached the image below. It's not super noticeable...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
I apologize for the late reply. Trying to fix this TV has been an emotional rollercoaster!
Nomoresony: Yes, removing the cable box is one of the first things I did. I also made sure the firmware was up to date. Everything was as it should be.
Diah: Are factory reset and hard reset different things? The TV doesn't come with a standard remote, only the FireTV remote. I can perform a factory reset from the TV settings, by pushing on the "Start" button for a few seconds on the TV and...Last edited by Lisanimaux; 01-13-2021, 07:35 PM.

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
I tried to do another reset and it changed nothing, so I removed every screw to open the back panel. Wires are connecting the back cover to a board, preventing me from fully removing it. Right now I can lift the back panel approximately 2 inches above the rest of the TV.
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but how can I unplug them? I pressed on the white connector and tried to pull it gently, but I'm afraid to break something if I apply more pressure.
I attached...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding, I'm not using a FireTV Stick. The feature is embed within the Toshiba FireTV, so it can't be unplugged from the HDMI port.
The menu looks the same on every source (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, Antenna, Composite and Multimedia player). I'm only using HDM1, which is for the TV cable box. The TV is always left on this source. I don't need to change it to access the apps (ex: Netflix, CBC, Amazon, etc.)
Here are two photos of the...

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
All right, so I figured out how to do it with the Fire TV remote. However, it's the exact same thing I did a few days ago from the TV menu (they call it "Factory reset" instead of "Hard reset"), which didn't solve the issue. Plus, the image started jumping again while it was rebooting.
I will try cleaning the cable tonight. Is there something I should know before doing it?

Re: Toshiba FireTV image jumps every two seconds. Can it be fixed?
Thank you! The Fire TV doesn't come with this remote unfortunately, I only have the Amazon Fire remote. I will look how I can access service mode from it. If this doesn't solve the issue, I'll try opening the TV and cleaning the contacts....
