Re: Samsung T240 Intermittent Shut-Off
So it turns out the touch sensor (power button) was bad. When it heated up, the chip would randomly turn the monitor off. Heating the chip with a heat gun would result in immediate malfunction, while cooling it down with an upside-down compressed air can restored normal operation instantly. Got another touch sensor assembly from Samsung for $15 and all is well!

Re: Samsung T240 Intermittent Shut-Off
Hey guys - thanks for all the suggestions. I will open the monitor tonight and give it a whirl with a heat gun - it does turn off more often when the room gets really hot, so thermal component failure seems likely. I'll also swap the power boards and see if the problem follows. I'll keep you updated.
Question though - is T301 really going to cause the ENTIRE monitor to turn off? It's not that the panel goes dark but the power light stays on - the whole monitor turns off and I have to turn it back on with the power button, after...

Re: Samsung T240 Intermittent Shut-Off
They are just straight JPEG files, I don't see how you can possibly get a virus from that. The site (www.sergep.com) is my personal Web site. Also, at 5.1MB each, they were rejected by the attachment applet. and I didn't want to degrade the resolution by resizing them.
Anyways, I am attaching smaller versions to this post - use the links above to see the full-resolution originals. Thanks again!Re: Samsung T240 Intermittent Shut-O...files, I don't...Last edited by siraltus; 04-01-2011, 04:50 PM.

There's nothing on the back of the video board except solder points for the video connector pins, so I didn't include that. Boards show no discoloration anywhere, and as far as I can...

Samsung T240 Intermittent Shut-Off
Hey Guys,
So I have two Samsung T240s with consecutive serials purchased together.
One of them has developed an intermittent shut-off problem. I can use it for hours and it will stay on, then suddenly it will shut off (power light is off). I touch the power button and it turns back on, then turns back off again, usually within 10-30 seconds. I can do this several times, and finally it stays back on and keeps working for an hour or two or five again, and then starts doing this again. Sometimes (though rarely), it will flicker off and back on, as if someone unplugged...
