I don't even remember why I got it other than that it was cheap and had internal speakers. This brand was marketed towards the medical industry, not that I cared. The display was pretty good. I remember it had an unusually long warranty, either 3 years or 5 years. In the final year of warranty coverage it suffered a firmware corruption that caused it to be detected as totally different display, one with a lower max resolution. This, in additional to a couple of dead pixels (which on their own would not have been sufficient to trigger a warranty claim), enabled me to get the monitor replaced with... -

I think I saw one for $100. They're quite expensive simply due to being rare given how old the monitor is. I don't think it's worth it if that's my only practical solution. Thanks anyway....Leave a comment:

Given this information and the premise that I likely don't have on hand those components and will have to buy them, does it make sense to just scrap this monitor? It's very old and I'm not particularly attached to it. It's also quite small and I can just buy a bigger used monitor for ~$50....Leave a comment:

nomoresonys, I researched this "tape cut-off" method you mentioned and it appears to be used for double image issues and sometimes lines. I looked at the picture I posted and this seems to be an internally cracked panel so I'm not entirely sure how the "tape cut-off" method would help me here unless I'm misunderstanding something....Leave a comment:

I wonder what could have cracked it. These modern TVs are so light, but I guess it comes at the cost of very flimsy and flexible chassis/cases resulting in the possibility of stress fractures even without any obvious strikes or hits to the TV?...Leave a comment:
