Re: Sony XR-65X90J - display shows lines and distortions
nomoresonys, I researched this "tape cut-off" method you mentioned and it appears to be used for double image issues and sometimes lines. I looked at the picture I posted and this seems to be an internally cracked panel so I'm not entirely sure how the "tape cut-off" method would help me here unless I'm misunderstanding something....

Re: Sony XR-65X90J - display shows lines and distortions
I wonder what could have cracked it. These modern TVs are so light, but I guess it comes at the cost of very flimsy and flexible chassis/cases resulting in the possibility of stress fractures even without any obvious strikes or hits to the TV?...

Sony XR-65X90J - display shows lines and distortions
3Yes0%0Yes, but it would require immense expenditures / expertise and likely not worth it0%1No0%2Any chance to fix this or is this an irreparable internal panel fracture? See attachment....

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
Hmm could you be more specific? I'm not very good at electronics. Which parts are the "gate" components I should test?...

I think I checked some of those in the prior posts. Any particular ones you want me to check?...

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
I checked all four. Two were shorted, two were not. Does this mean I just need to replace those two shorted ones, or is there another problem on the board that is causing the shorts?...

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
One of the EY6/7 MOSFETs was shorted. The other was not.
EY5 (same type of MOSFET: KF5N50) was also shorted. EY4 appears to be OK.
Each shorted MOSFET was shorted on all 3 legs....

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
I got EY7 off. How do I test it?
I got EY6 off, too. One of the items gives no connection between any of the legs. The other has a short between all legs. I guess the one with the short is the bad item?...Last edited by primuspaul; 01-23-2021, 09:05 PM.

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
So it's one of the transistors on the right, not one of the two on the left? Any way to test these without desoldering them?...

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
With both jumpers lifted, yes there is a short between the hot ground and EY6/7. See attached, hopefully I tested the right items. See attached. I put the tested leads on the pins I tested....Last edited by primuspaul; 01-23-2021, 03:49 PM.

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
I should add that that behavior (short, no short, as described in the previous post) is with the fuse I mentioned before effectively off the board because it shorted the last time I tested something, but I assume you knew this since I mentioned it.
Anyway, let me know what those symptoms mean to you - what piece you think is broken....

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
I lifted JW59: still a short between 1 and 7/8.
I lifted JW78 (without putting back JW59): no short between 1 and 7/8.
I did not do anything with or even look for or identify FB101 since I assume it's not necessary at this point?...Last edited by primuspaul; 01-21-2021, 09:20 PM.

These can literally be lifted or do they need to be resoldered?...

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
I just tested it with the piece off and there is no continuity between 1 and 7/8. The continuity was on the board itself....

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
Will do. I assume it will be bad, but will desolder and check just in case before ordering.
Do you know any electronics that contain this or a good place to get it cheap? It's $2.69 from China, but it takes a month ...

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
Between the pin next to the dot and the one across from it (8 I assume) the resistance is 2.7 Ohms, so I guess it's fried? This is with the item still on the board, though....

Did I number them right (see attached)?
While soldered to board?...Last edited by primuspaul; 01-17-2021, 08:06 PM.

Re: E470VA with a PLHH-Y009A - no power
For testing the U101 resistances on the pins, which pins are those (having trouble finding pin numbers) and do you want it tested while the item is still soldered into the power board? See image attached. I assume that's the one you want tested....
