    They have 10 production sites in Japan, 1 in Indonesia. They don't make any capacitors in China. All the Rubycon capacitors I have bought from Digikey have Japan as the country of origin.
    Also, "Japanese Capacitor" seems to mean the capacitor is a Japanese brand, it doesn't have to be made in Japan. For example...

    I recently confirmed that the PL series leaks electrolyte from the seal. I could not find conclusive evidence online, but discovered this when repairing an engine control unit. The date on the capacitor is the 15th week of 1994. It is not leaking too bad, at least so far. If you look closely at the photo you can see the electrolyte on the bottom seal....

    Hello,
    I am a recent electrical engineering graduate, and I enjoy designing and repairing electronics. Lately I have been repairing various electronic modules for Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000GT cars, such as engine control units, transmission control units etc. The units from the 1990s have issues with electrolytic capacitors that leak electrolyte out of the bottom seal, causing all kinds of problems. I have a hard time finding info about which capacitor series leak electrolyte, so I would like to share my findings...
