Re: esr or cap tester
Coincidentally, can somebody recommend an ESR meter that reads values lower than 1uF?

Re: esr or cap tester
Received my ESR-Micro 3.1 a few months ago. Mike is an excellent communicator and followed-up on it's delivery. The ESR-Micro 3.1 has been a welcomed addition to my test bench and has quickly solved many troubleshooting issues.
I understand that a new model has been released (v4.0). I've gotta check it's specs and put in an order.
Provided are some photos of the ESR-Micro 3.1 in action:...

Every service manual I've needed, I always managed to find it for free online.

Re: Recap of Pioneer SX-750
Turned out excellent! I went with Nichicon Gold KG's. Now, when the Pioneer gets a base signal, the panel lights don't dim. Very happy, and nice caps at that.Last edited by andycap; 03-23-2007, 11:08 PM.

Bad Cap Taken from Marantz 2216B
Here's a picture of a bad cap taken from a 1978 Marantz 2216B receiver. Receiver displayed the classic sound of a low hum after < 2 minutes operation. Will be replaced with Nichicon PW Series of same value (uF - V)....Last edited by andycap; 12-28-2006, 08:04 PM.

Re: Recap of Pioneer SX-750
That's pretty much what my SX-750 was doing. One of the 15KuF - 50V caps had vented (must of been a while since it was all dried up). What's cheesy about the SX-750 is the main power supply caps (2 of them) are wired in series. Don't know about the other SX models though....

Re: Recap of Pioneer SX-750
Black Gates are over priced and I can't find Elna's with my required spec of 15KuF - 50V. The Nichicon's will have to do....

Recap of Pioneer SX-750
Wow! My first post and what an informative site. Luckily, my Abit BD7-Raid hasn't needed new caps (thumbs up to Rubycon)!
However, my Pioneer SX-750 receiver is ready for some power supply caps. Not bad for a receiver almost 30 years old. Can anybody recommend some high quality caps in the 15000uF 50v spec. My first choice was some Nichicon PW series but I can't find any in this spec.
