Re: DIY Car Battery Charger
I opened a UPS today to take the Transformer but it has 5 wires on the primary side and 3 wires at the secondary side.
Do you know which wires should I use please?
Thanks

Re: DIY Car Battery Charger
Hi,
Thanks for the useful reply.
I have a battery charger already, but I want to build something and decided to build a charger
I will search for a 12/14v transformer and use that.
Thanks again.

DIY Car Battery Charger
Hi,
I want to build a 12v Car Battery Charger.
What I have so far is a 18V Transformer. Is this good? or Its better if I find a 12/14v Transformer?
Also, for the rectifier, is this good please? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110695506297&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
I will also buy a Volt Meter and Amp Meter.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

TECO LCD TV with MLT666A PSU
Hello all,
Its been a couple of months since I last posted here.
I have a problem with a TECO LCD TV Psu.
I started working on this PSU a couple of months ago, and all I remember is I replaced some FETs and Diodes as they where shorted.
But now I forgot what I did.
Today I tried it using the bulb method and it seems that it is still shorted as the bulb is lit when I turn the power on.
I am using 60w bulb. Could it be that the bulb is too small in wattage? or I still have a short in the PSU?

Re: Asrock quality?
I work with Asrock Agent in Malta.
Believe me, they are far better than Asus. I know because we compare RMAs. We send more Asus.
Asrock now have High End / Gaming MBs aswell.

Re: Power Supply
Ok, I liked the idea of using a car battery, but I am afraid of it as it may explode and this will be used inside a house.
I tried to find a transformer but I cant find any.
I decided to go for SMPS. But I need some help please.
How can I adjust the voltage of a 12v PSU to 13.8v please?
Will connecting Big Capacitors to the output help with noise? (I just asked this question above)
Thanks
Mario

Will connecting some big capacitors to the output of the psu kill the noise please?...

Re: Power Supply
I dont know exactly the current of the units, but I found on the internet that an HF Transceiver requires a minimum of 25A for TX.
Will a High End PC PSU do the job?...

Power Supply
Hello.
I need a Power Supply to power a CB, VHF, UHF and HF Radios.
I think I will need around 50/65A (12V) as I may add a linear amplifier in the future.
I can buy a PC PSU with separate rails for 12V or I can buy a big transformer and filter its output.
What do you think will be the best?
I dont need variable voltage.
Thanks

Re: Using Equivalent Components
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
The transistor will be used in a 32" LCD TV PSU.
I could`nt find the P6NK60ZFP anywhere.
Will I do any harm if I try 2SK2141 instead of P6NK60ZFP?
Also, I found that even the fuse on this psu has been fried and the big capacitor 150uf 450v bloated. What could cause this damage please?
Thanks
Mario

Using Equivalent Components
Hello,
Yesterday I asked about (ST)P6NK60ZFP.
I found one on ebay but the seller asked for $45 to ship 10 of them to Malta!
I then tried to find it on other sites but no one had it.
As I was searching on the internet, I tried to cross reference the part and I found that 2SK2141 is the equivalent (Cross Reference) to my part.
How safe is it to use equivalent parts please?
Thanks

CRT Monitor
Hello
I have a 17" CRT Monitor with an Hourglass shape picture. Would this be a matter of bad capacitors? If yes, which caps do I have to replace? If not a cap issue, what should I look for please?
Thanks in advance

Caps Values
Hi,
I am thinking of making an order of around 1K caps. These will be mixed with batches of 100 each value so 10 values.
I know that I need low esr caps for TFT Monitors and LCD Monitors, but what about the ripple? Do I need low Ripple or High Ripple? I know that the best thing to do is to order the caps according to the bad caps values, but this is impossible for me as I need to have stock in hand.
One last thing. Are Elite caps any good? I am asking because I replace many of them, but only after 5 - 6 years of work. Or should they last much longer?...

Re: Replaced bad caps, still having problems
most probably, you need low esr caps. some one will explain further.

Re: Dell Studio 1537 - PP33L
Whats best? Try to repair the mainboard or just replace it?
And what should I look for if repairing?
Thanks
