well the bad caps are labeled as "Elite", dont know if that is the manufacturer, the monitor is an NEC MultiSync 1720M, and the 2 bulging caps are both 1000uF and 35v and 16v respectivly
unfortunatly i dont have a digital camera that works right now otherwise i would post some pics.well the bad caps are labeled as "Elite", dont know if that is the manufacturer, the monitor is an NEC MultiSync 1720M, and the 2 bulging caps are both 1000uF and 35v and 16v respectivly

Bad Caps in a MONITOR?
Hello, im new here but I've dealt with bad caps on MBD's before (ex-gateway tech support). Im trying to fix an NEC 17' LCD display that wont start up and simply just blinks the sleep light on the fron VERY FAINTLY whenever you try to power it on. So i pull the thing apart and lo and behold, there is a cap on one of the boards thats bulging and oozing out of the top. In your informed opinions, do you think this could be the source of the problem?
